Answer
I studied in Sweden. In fact, Stockholm remains my favorite city in the world. The 17th-century battleship "Wasa" is definitely a must-see, raised more than 90 percent intact from his grave on the bottom of Stockholm harbor. The changing of the guards is always an interesting ritual. Tour the Treasury at the Royal Palace, eat lunch at Gondolen, and be sure to tour the City Hall, home of the Nobel Prize banquet. I also love just walking around Skansen, a vast architectural preserve, which also has a modest zoo. Venture outside the city to see Drottningsholmslott, a Versailles-wannbe Baroque palace that is the royal country residence. The gardens are beautiful. Get over to Västerås, once a royal capital, and stroll the cobbled Old Town. The cathedral is just stunning, not so much outside but the inside is one, mammoth history lesson and includes the tomb of King Erik XIV, who died in disgrace and is thus the only monarch buried outside of Stockholm. My favorite part of Norway is Narvik, up above the Arctic Circle. The train ride from Gällivare in Sweden is just breathtaking. It is best visited as close to Midsommar as possible as the midnight sun is spectacular. If you can, pack a small tent and camp out on the plateau overlooking the town and the fjørds. Climb to the top of the peak to be there for midnight and be prepared to be awestruck! You'll want to spend a lot of time in Scandinavia when you add the wonderful things our Finnish friend has mentioned!

Equestrian centers in Gothenburg, Sweden?
Q. I'm going to Sweden over the summer and I will be staying in Gothenburg. I've been there before and I've seen what looks like some equestrian facilities that hold clinics. Does anyone have any more information on these places?
Answer
You don't mention exactly where in Gothenburg, and there are several equestrian facilities in the Gothenburg area (see link).
Some facilities have summer camps, but mostly the equestrian centres are run by clubs that have their main activities, including courses and clinics, during school terms, and not a lot going on over the summer. There will be some competitions in the region, though.
Major international equestrian competitions in Sweden during the summer are Falsterbo Horse Show (second week of July) and Malmo City Horse Show (13-15 Aug), but sadly these are about 300 kms south of Gothenburg.
You may contact me by email with further details of what you're looking for.
