Where is a good place to camp close to the arches in Moab, Utah?

Me and some friends are planning to go down to Moab, Utah. I was appointed to set this trip for us. We are more of the outdoors guys. We would like to camp out near or at the Arches if possible. We will be bringing our mountain bikes, camping gear, and fishing poles. It would be great to be near a fishing area as well. We need a break from school until Fall semester starts. We are students at the University of Utah, we came here for the main reason to do as much of the outdoors stuff as possible.

Where is a good place to motorcycle camp for free or cheap on the California Coast?

I am going to be hopping on my motorcycle and heading down through Frisco to LA along the coast. Just gonna be me, my motorcycle, and some camping gear. Looking for free to fairly cheap place to just pitch a small tent or even a couple trees to sling a hammock. Gonna be traveling light so don't really need campground facilities just ground or trees to sleep. :D
Checked the KOA and they want $40 a night just to tent camp. :(
