How to plan a camping vacation?

Jesse

Me and my family live in Ohio and we are planning on visiting maine but we are very poor so we are going to camp. We have a tent but we need to know how to plan for travel, staying their and food! Thanks!

Answer
Find your camping spots and reserve where you can. http://woodalls.com/ lists all that there is and you can make reservations through
http://www.reserveamerica.com/ or http://www.recreation.gov/

Planning now for summer is great since reservations go fast for the better, popular destinations also keep in mind that gas will rise to $4.00 a gallon by June, so watch that budget.

Check lists abound on the web for what to bring here is a good one,
http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/family+camping+checklist.html

Food is easy bring simple foods that all like and stop for a pizza on the road nobody likes to hassle with cooking right when you get to your campsite with dinner made you can focus on dessert and making smores. Here are some menu planning suggestions,

My mom and I are looking for a city to move to when I graduate high school and are looking for a change of climate. We both enjoy warm weather and being able to drive to the beach, but also being around greenery and places to go hiking. We're very outdoorsy, natury people who love the outdoors, but also fun nights out in the town. We currently live in Princeton, NJ which fulfills most of the requirements, but we would like a place like this more south and warm :) Any suggestions?

How does America think it can win a war with Iran?

kris13iam

Iraq's not near to being secure. The armed forces are barely filling their recruiting quotas. The public is overwhemingly opposed to Iraq. The national debt is reaching $9,000,000,000,000. Iran's army is much tougher than Iraq's insurgents. They are not a direct threat. Time to wake up, GI Joes.
Time to put away the video games, "troops."
If the U.S. military is "all-mighty" why is it taking so long to secure Iraq?

Answer
Bush has no intentions whatsoever of "winning" this war with Iran. He is using this nation and plunging us into debt for the "Big Picture". Terrorists and terrorism have pretty much always existed. But, what is happening today is a deliberate, concerted utilization of terrorism for profit. Oil profits, that is. All of the following is fact. The tribal people of the Middle East had not risen above their neolithic differences to align and form a lasting union of tolerance among themselves, as other nations of the world already had, when greedy foreigners descended upon those lands and began to plunder the oil there. Royalty and tribal elites were bribed. And, the CIA was used by U.S. oil interests, including those belonging to the Bush family, to deliberately destabilize the region for control and to prevent the people in the Middle East from uniting and controlling the oil themselves. Halliburton had the contracts to build the Al Qaeda training camps. Our new Secretary of Defence, Gates, was the man assigned to teach the Al Qaeda forces how to fight back when the C.I.A. used them against Soviets. The U.S. eployed the use of Al Qaeda forces through 1999 in Bosnia. That's fact and public record. Keyword "Gates Al Qaeda". Bush's oil company, Arbusto, is business partners with the Bin Laden family and, as a gesture of friendship, gave Osama's brother, Salem, the Houston Gulf Airport in Texas. Bush and his family and his associates significantly helped to create the terrorists that our soldiers fight today. And, they deliberately contributed to the chaos and suffering of innocent people there. The people of the Middle East, betrayed by their corrupted leaders and weakened by such foreign powers, failed to rise to the realities of the 20th century in time for the 21st. And, their future is grim. Middle Eastern oil production peaks in 2012 and ends in 2070. The plunder of Middle Eastern oil is now a piggy-fest of who gets control of the remaining oil there. The societies there, so long destabilized, have disintegrated into episodic chaos and heightened religiosity as the quality of leadership plummeted. Foreign and local elite oil interests, concerned about security for their pipelines and oil fields now that factions of local power mongers, freedom fighters and religious fanatics threaten to disrupt the efficient flow of oil out of the land, placed foreign troops, including those from UK and U.S., in the region to ensure enough, but only just enough, stability to get the oil out. Many U.S. soldiers there now report that all they do is guard oil fields and a flow of oil profits that go to only a few people in the world. Even the plunder has grown chaotic with an estimated 500,000 barrels of oil going "missing" every day, securing someone's power in the future as oil begins to run out. $20 Billion U.S. taxpayer money that Bush sent in cash with his man Bremer was "lost" there recently to people who most assuredly participate in the "terrorism" trade. Bush marches through the region and wants to invade Iran now to lock up the pipeline routes. He is asking taxpayer for $622 BILLION more! He has not said what he wants that money for, though. And, he refuses to state his "plan" for Iraq. He just says he has one. In order to have an initial foothold for the plunder march through the region, the U.S. pays Israel $30,000 every year bribe for every man, woman and child, plus, has given them weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons which the Isrealis have recently threatened (then denied) to use against the Iranians. Those are the only WMD known in the region aften ten years of searching for more. The search for WMD is a propaganda ploy to convince ignorant U.S. taxpayers to keep supporting the "search". It is a ploy because arms dealers and their activities are well known by U.S. intelligence. Now, with a Democratic Congress and worldwide disgust for Bush and Cheney's lying and plundering and unspeakably irresponsible plundering of our own nation's financial security while racking up the largest national debt in the history of mankind, there may be some reasonable approach that will be considered and some way to help the people of those regions who have been disarmed and are now at the mercy of roving gangs of religious fanatics and other factions. Bush stated during the Presidental debates that "there would be NO nation building" there, though. He has no intentions whatsoever of promoting democracy there, unless it submits to his plans. Bush has no respect for the democracy in the U.S. He refuses to listen to the will of the American people or to our Congress. Remember, Bush does not represent the American people. He represents the oil interests and war profiteers. He and his gang have done nothing but destabilize and weaken the United States. Bush has aligned himself and his interests in the U.S. with the Christian Evangelicals, 40 million strong, whose leadership reported last fall in "Faith and Nation" that they advocate for the violent overthrow of the U.S. government if their religious agenda is not made into legislation. And, they are preparing to fight their neighbors. See the "Jesus Camp" videos. It'll make you sick when you see what those fanatics are doing to American children. Bush is contributing to the creation of even more terrorists in these Evangelical fanatics. Bush and his family supported Saddam when it suited them. They support whomever goes along with them or is most easily bribed with U.S. taxpayers' money. Bush supports the Shiites now because they seem the most easily "managed" and exploitable or amenable to the "Big Picture". That may change from day to day, depending upon the vagaries of the chaos. Bush hails from a family with a history for supporting terrorists. Bush's grandfather, Prescott, supplied at least one/third of Hitler's raw materials before President Rooselvelt and the U.S. Congress stopped him specifically with the Trading with the Enemy Act. When the oil runs out in the Middle East, U.S. oil interests will disarm and abandon Israel and the Middle East to the viscious remnants of their "terrorism" trade and practices.

Camping in the UK? A question about internet access and power points?

best camping site wales image

UK girl -

I thought about taking my son camping somewhere in the UK maybe cornwall, Somerset. the Lakes or Wales. I was wondering does anyone know if camp sites nowadays have WiFi - it seems to me from preliminary searches that they don't. If any do, do they also have power points so people can charge their computers? Thanks for any advice.

Answer
If you are staying in a campground without electricity, then get a power inverter to charge the computer while driving with direct current from your cigarette lighter plug in the vehicle. If your campground is without wireless internet, then check at local libraries, coffee shops, and stores. Across the United States, I have never been far from a business or public library that offered me free use of the internet. If you are really desperate, then ask your cell phone provider about personal internet service that you plug into the USB port of your computer. In the United States, plans range from $15-$70 per month depending on the amount of data transmitted.

Hello could camping, walking experts please answer this question?

Jessie

I live in West Yorkshire with my family, me 15, brother 12 and mum and dad and in summer we are wanting to go on like a camping road trip.
We want to camp in 3 or 4 places in the space of 2 weeks. We want to start anywhere in the Lake District and end up anywhere in Scotland.
We like all types of camp site, isolated and busy, so a mixture would be nice.
Could anyone recommend any camp sites?

Answer
Some National Parks welcome wild camping, as long as you act responsibly and leave no trace of your visit behind you. Dartmoor have a map of areas where you can camp on common land, and the Brecon Beacons provide a list of farms that welcome campers. In the Cairngorms and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs the Scottish Outdoor Access Code gives everyone the right to wild camp so long as you follow the guidelines.

What should I bring for a winter camping trip?

waterproof family camping tents
on Camping Tents Free shipping 6 person double layer camping, family tent ...
waterproof family camping tents image

Nadine

I went camping three times last summer. Now I am planning a winter camping trip and I wonder what special camping equipment should I take since the weather is really cold.

Answer
Warm Winter Clothes
Some waterproof cloth are preferable for a winter camping as cloth in other materials will be easy to get wet no matter couse the snow, rain or your sweat and will take a long time to dry them. Therefore,no matter for the camping tent or wearings, wool or synthetic materials will be good choice. Whatâs more, the have to make sure the clothes you wear are easy to put off to accommdate with the changing weather or the difference in and out of the marquee. Besides the cloth you wear, the socks, Gaiters and sturdy, well-insulated boots will make you journey easier.

Cold-Weather Sleeping Bag
A well-insulated, cold-weather sleeping bag is an essential winter camping item. Most sleeping bags note on the label or somewhere on the exterior the minimum temperature they can withstand before losing heat. Bring a winter sleeping bag that will keep you warm in temperatures well below those you expect to encounter. Placing a water bottle filled with hot water will help heat up your bag as well. Always sleep on top of some kind of sleeping pad to prevent losing heat to the cold ground. Choose a mummy-style sleeping bag with a hood so that you stay covered throughout the night.

High-Caloric Balanced Foods
Caloric requirements are higher in winter because you need more energy to stay warm. Bring about 50 percent simple sugars and complex carbohydrates such as rice, bread, dried fruit, candy and cereal. About 20 percent of your food supply should be proteins like meat, fish, eggs and nuts. Thirty percent should be fats like cheese, butter, pepperoni and salami. Depending on your daily activities, youâll need to consume between 1,500 (basal metabolism) and 4,500 calories (winter backpacking). Be sure to bring ingredients for hot drinks like tea, cider or hot cocoa.

Snow-Proof Winter Tent
The choice of camping tents in the winter camping is the most important thing you have to consider as it will be the teporary shelter for you. For a winter camping, pop up tents you choose must be snow avoidable and be sturdy to surpport the dropping snow. Make you sure that the marquee tent is big enough to handle all the bulky you bring as they are much more than camping in warm weather, especilly for family camping tents. Just check all the essentials you need for camping and recheck the camping gears before start off.

What kind of camping tent is good for 8 people? Hot temperatures and sand at camp site, needs to be light.?

We´re planning to travel to our camping ground by airplane, so it can´t be too heavy. We´ll be 5 people so I´m looking for an 8 person tent. Any advise?

Answer
Hi there!

I have a big family and when we do our big leisurely camping trips, we always use our 8-person 2-room camping tent. The best I've found (and the best deal out there in my opinion) is the Columbia Cougar Flats II. It's a 15' x 10' dome tent with two rooms and space for up to eight people - though in my opinion, eight people would be terribly cramped in there. I'd say six max, which sounds perfect for you.

It utilizes the GoBe Dry System to keep all the moisture out in it rains - probably won't be much humidity in the desert, so you're fine there. It has a full seam-taped polyester fly with a waterproof coating as well. The frame is a hybrid steel and fiberglass which I've found to be very durable and long-lasting (this baby's endured the abuse of my family for many many trips now). It is spacious but has lots of storage like pocket pouches, hanging cup holders, lockers and a hanging gear loft.

Make sure you do plenty of research to find the tent that suits you best, but this would definitely be my recommendation. It's worked great for me and my family. If you need any other camping tips or ideas, check out my new camping blog:

backpacking Ausie for 6 months?

best camping site on fraser island image
Q. hey so a friend and i are planning on going to ausie for 6 months in march. Is it possible to pitch a tent on beaches like bondi beach or fraser island? Is it easy for backpackers without vehicles to get to places like that? and how much does it cost per night. Thanks!

Answer
You can pitch a tent on a few very out of the way beaches, but Bondi and most other places definitely don't qualify as out of the way.

Tents are OK on the northern part of Fraser Island but it's virtually impossible to get there going via 4WD. The southern part of Fraser isn't very nice at all and it's a long and difficult hike to get to the northern part and you'd be dodging heavy traffic on the beach the whole way. The beach running from just above Noosa Heads to Double Island Point (just south of Fraser Island) is beautiful and tents are OK there, but getting there is a problem though it is possible. Make sure you enquire about camping permits etc or the rangers will get you.
The EPA website has info about National Park and State Forest camp grounds in Queensland:
http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks_and_forests/find_a_park_or_forest/
Other states will have similar sites.

You'll find cheap camping grounds all along the coast both privately run and in National Parks and which range from about $10 per night for 2 people with a tent and no vehicle.

What is Jervis Bay Territory,Australia?

Kevin7

Answer
The Jervis Bay Territory is a territory of the Commonwealth of Australia. It was bought by the Commonwealth Government in 1915 from the state of New South Wales so the Federal capital at Canberra would have access to the sea. Strictly speaking it is a separate territory and is not part of the Australian Capital Territory, but it is treated as part of the ACT for most practical purposes.

Jervis Bay is named after the British admiral John Jervis, 1st Earl of St Vincent. Jervis pronounced his name "Jarvis," but most residents of Jervis Bay pronounce it as it is spelled.

Approximately 760 people live in the territory, the majority working and living at the Royal Australian Navy base, HMAS Creswell. Over 90% of the territory is now legally recognised as Aboriginal land. There is an Aboriginal community at Wreck Bay in the Booderee National Park.

For most purposes the territory is governed under the law of the Australian Capital Territory. Its residents have access to the courts of the ACT, but are not represented in the ACT Legislative Assembly. They are represented in the Parliament of Australia as part of the Division of Fraser in the ACT and by the ACT's two Senators. There is a Jervis Bay Administration that handles matters normally concerned with local or state government.

Huskisson is the nearest New South Wales town.

Jervis Bay is a natural harbour 16km north-south and 10km east-west, opening to the east onto the Pacific Ocean. The bay is sited about 150km south of the city of Sydney, on the southern coast of New South Wales. The nearest city is Nowra, about 40km or 30 minutes drive away, on the Shoalhaven River to the north. The water area forms the Jervis Bay Marine Park. The bay's extensive sand bottom features sea grass meadows where fish and dolphins can be found.

The southern Behwere Peninsula ends at Governors Head, and is mainly taken up with the Booderee National Park (formerly Jervis Bay National Park), accessible by road. (Booderee is an Aboriginal word from the Dhurga language meaning "bay of plenty" or "plenty of fish.")

The bay's northern coast and headland forming Beecroft Peninsula ends at Point Perpendicular with a major coastal lighthouse. A significant portion of the headland and surrounding area is a gun bombardment range for the navy. Bowen Island, at the entrance to the bay opposite Governors Head, is 51 hectares. It has rookeries for the Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor) at the northern extent of its range. Other villages and towns on the bay are: Hyams Beach, Vincentia, Huskisson, Culburra, Callala Bay, Callala Beach and Myola. To the south-west of Jervis Bay lies St Georges Basin, an extensive marine estuary and lake system.

The Australian National Botanic Gardens Annexe of approximately 80 hectares was established in 1951 near Lake Windermere to cater for plants not tolerant to frost found sometimes at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra.

Within the Booderee National Park is HMAS Creswell, the Royal Australian Navy College named after Captain William Creswell, the Director of the Commonwealth Naval Forces which later became the RAN. The Jervis Bay Airfield is adjacent, operated by the RAN to support its Kalkara (Storm Petrel) pilotless target aircraft (Beech / BAe MQM-107E). Kalkara are launched from the airfield and later recovered by parachute into the water and thence by boats maintained at HMAS Creswell, after target-towing exercises off the coast with ships or aircraft. Control equipment is sited at Bherwerre Ridge overlooking the sea to the east.

Of historical interest is the site of the nuclear reactor proposed to be built within the Jervis Bay Territory. The site is near the Greenpatch camping area, east of HMAS Creswell, on the south-east coast of the bay. The project was cancelled in 1971 after site works were done and a road was constructed to the territory border.

Hey everyone!! I just started using this site today lol okay so heres my question. I only have about 3 and a half months of school left, and I'm already excited for summer. Me and my friends are 15-17 years old and live near Vancouver, BC. How can we make this summer lots of fun and memorable? I don't wanna be sitting at home doing nothing all day. Thanks for your answers!! :D

Answer
Oh, wow, I forgot that there are only 3 1/2 months of school left. Lol, I guess I've been too preoccupied with school work. I used to live by Vancouver :D.

1. I really miss the beaches, so have plenty of fun out by the oceans =).
2. Visit amusement parks, ride every single ride until you get sick, and go into haunted houses.
3. Go rock climbing, sky-diving, or camping.
4. Go to a lot of parties.
5. Host a party.
6. Play a prank on your friends.
7. Make some money with a car wash.
8. Water fight!
9. Dance competition/learn a type of dance.
10. Go to concerts.
11. Learn how to skateboard.
12. Learn a different language.
13. Go to a museum.
14. Run up and down the aisles in WalMart.
15. Building a rocket or fighting a mummy or climbing up the Eiffel Tower. Discovering something that doesn't exist or giving a monkey a shower.
16. Start a band.
17. Have a picnic.
18. Take as many pictures as possible.
19. Catch fireflies.
20. Get a tan.

How do I get (I'm on foot) from Vancouver, BC to a campground/free place to camp close to the city?

Q. I'm staying in a hostel one night but would like to find a free campground that is near the city where I can hang out for a few days. Anyone know how I could go about doing this?

Answer
there isn't a whole lot of camping that is close to downtown. there is one RV park in north vancouver just across the lions gate bridge called capilano RV park you can easily get there by public transit or taxi. depending on where your going after vancouver there are some better places to camp on the outskirts of the city but are quite a but farther out of downtown.

golden ears provincial park is a really nice campground and is quite far east of the city in Maple Ridge but is still accessible by public transit. if you are heading to Whistler or Pemberton area there are lots of nice places to camp in Squamish which is about half way from Vancouver to Whistler and is accessible by train or greyhound and possibly public transit.

if you are heading south to Seattle area then there are places to camp in South Surrey/Whiterock

for info on how to get around with the public transit visit:
http://www.translink.ca/

you won't find anyplace free to camp, but if you are a little adventurous you could set up camp in stanley park for the night but i'll warn you that there are lots of bums that live in the park and i'm not sure how friendly they would be.

good luck

Where to visit between Brisbane and Sydney?

good camping places queensland

good camping places queensland image

Sarah D

Hi, I am travelling into Brisbane in April and have 3 weeks to make it down to Sydney. Were thinking of hiring a camper van for the drive. Can anybody make suggesstions as to what are must sees along the way or/ and in both Brisbane and Sydney. Thanks.

Answer
Firstly, get in touch with the NRMA (National Road and Motorists Association) and the RACQ (Royal Automobile Club of Queensland). These two organisations have lots of touring guides and maps available for planning your trips.

Secondly, reconsider the campervan. Whilst it is a good way to travel around and have cheap accommodation, you can be restricted to some degree. Rental of a small 4 door sedan will be much, much less than a campervan. Fuel costs will be much less. With a car and a cheap motel/hotel room, you can base yourself in an area and drive around the area in much more comfort and much less parking problems. With the campervan, if you want to do day trips, you have to leave the camping grounds and drive around to return to your campsite and all the associated set up problems. I could think of nothing worse than deciding to go to a meal in a restaurant and having to drive the campervan from the camping grounds to the restaurant then have to drive back at 10pm and back into the camping grounds and set up the van.

There are also many of the smaller, out of the way areas, that the roads aren't brilliant and may be difficult to negotiate in a campervan. You are also limited to staying in camping grounds and many of the areas you visit may not have these available. Also a point to remember, nearly every camping ground has onsite cabins and caravans available for overnight or longer. These are generally a fairly cheap option and you soon get sick of crawling around in the restricted space and headroom of a campervan. The two organisations listed at the start also have a fairly comprehensive book of an Accommodation Guide.

As for places to see and do, the entire coastline is dotted with hundreds of beautiful little towns and beachside villages. A lot of it is going to depend on what sort of things you like to do. There's so much available really, from the glitzy Gold Coast and its tourist traps, and the superb hinterlands areas. You can go visit Steve Irwin's Park, go fossicking for thundereggs, enjoy a magnificent scenic view over the Mt Warning volcano basin, bushwalk through the rainforest to lots of little waterfalls up in the Lamington National Park, visit a glowworm cave, take a boat trip out to a massive sand island, learn to surf.

Then head across the border and check out the beautiful villages of Mullumbimby, Lennox Heads and into the hippy commune refugee from the 60's Nimbin. Also lots of beautiful walks around here. Climb Mt Warning and watch the sunrise as this is the first part of Australian to greet the new day.

Further south, and just off the highway, stop in at Iluka and explore the wonderful rainforest right behind the coastal dunes. Rent a small tinny (little boat with an outboard motor) and try your hand at a bit of fishing, or simply rock up to the banks of the mighty Clarence river and cast a line out. Head down the road for about 10 mins to Woody Head, a delightful little beachside hamlet with a beautiful beach and good swimming. Spend a few hours walking over the rock platform and watching the tiny fish and other critters in the little rock pools. Again, a great place to do a bit of fishing. Catch the ferry across to Yamba and wander around this famous and favourite surfing mecca for generations of Australians. Failing that, drive further down the highway, turn left at Maclean and head out to Yamba, don't forget the compulsory photo of the lighthouse on the headland and a beer in the pub overlooking the beach. You might find you spend a day or two in Yamba also, the camping ground there is very close to the main areas.

South again and a 3-4 hour drive brings you to the Coffs Harbour area. Certainly a bit of a tourist mecca and a bit overdeveloped, but still worth a look as the coastline is truly beautiful. Don't forget the essential stop at the Big Banana and its tackorama and food. As the other poster said, consider staying at Woolgoolga. Or continue further south to Nambucca Heads for a picture perfect camping ground beside the river and the beach. Again, rent a tinny and spend the day fishing on the river. You might not catch anything, but you will see a lot of the wildlife.

For the next stop, I would be making it at South West Rocks. There's heaps to do here and a visit up to the old gaol is worth a few hours. The view from Point Perpendicular lighthouse is superb and the surfing is pretty good too.

From there, head to the area of Forster, Tuncurry, Myall Lakes, Port Macquarie, Laurieton. All very nice areas clustered around each other and difficult to know which one to stay at. Pick maybe Port Macquarie and spend a few days travelling around the area. In the right season, you can do whale watching trips as whales migrate up to their breeding grounds around Fraser Island and the Great Barrier Reef.

Next stop, I would leave the coast and head into the Hunter Valley to stay maybe in Pokolbin. From here I would do

Australians, what cultural icons and sights should a visitor see?

Twilight

The red centre, a sunset in the desert, mardi gras?

What are the must sees?

Answer
Mardi gras is a very festive event and definitely worth seeing once in your life but unfortunately if you're coming soon, you've missed it because it takes place in May every year.

Depends where about in Australia you are; especially if you're an active person I would perhaps recommend -

- Snorkeling and deep-sea diving in the Great Barrier Reef
- Bridge Climb on the Harbour Bridge in Sydney
- Camping and hiking at the Blue Mountains, it's a good time of the year too because it's not too hot and chances of bush fires are severely reduced
- Sky diving
- Berry picking
- Barosa Valley makes lovely wine, you'll also find many factories or home-run businesses in the country that harvest honey, wool, cheese etc. you'll be able to see the production process
- You'll find beautiful beaches on the Eastern coastline, particularly in the Goldcoast/Sunshine Coast
- Theme parks, while you're in Queensland, there's Sea World, Movie World, White Water World, Wet n' Wild World, Dream World
- If you're in Sydney, you'll find good seafood at the Fish Markets in the city, suburbs likes Newtown, Surry Hills and Glebe area have great cafes/bars/clubs
- Opera House
- Taronga Zoo
- Blue Mountains, mostly for sight seeing in the tourist areas such as the three sisters, but...I don't know that's not particularly interesting to me.

I am looking for good camp sites in Tenn and Florida! I want to go with my family, 5 adults and 2 children. I want to have some place with caves and unique features. Some place where we can all sit around the fire at night and go fishing during the day. Also looking for a service that rents R.V's or campers. (Not everyone is as "outdoories" as i am!) Anything will help! Tell me about your favorite spot!

Answer
My brother and sister are not experienced wilderness backpackers, but have enjoyed vacations in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. National Parks are tame enough for any family seeking developed campground facilities and a protective surroundings.

Her kids are 13 and under so consider a family friendly place with showers and such. Thanks!

I wanna go camping with my family. Like a real camp, with tents, marshmellows the whole lot! But i live in UAE and i dnt knw anywhere here thats good for that. Its all dessert and stuff u knw. I want greenery. Help anyone?

Answer
You need to green a room. There are wallpapers that look like forest and jungle. I've seen clever people do amazing things with construction paper design. Real plants can give room the scent of greenery. Don't forget to color yourself green. Add some big mirrors, grill broil marshmallows, and enjoy fruit drinks. I once had to make do with just army green
parachute as my ceiling and walls; sunshine passing it
seemed to turn everything within the color of new grass.

Where can I backcountry camp in the Mt Monadnock area?

Travis Irb

My plan: Hike Mt Monadnock (perhaps the Pumpelly trail) and hike North Pack Monadnock the next day. I would like to camp for one night; I have all the gear, but I don't want to be in a big family campground, such as the one at the base of Monadnock. Where can I backcountry tent in that area?

What is Elizabeth Avenue, Stoke Hill, Exeter, like to live in?

Jane

I'd like to move to Exeter and i am aware of some of the good and not so good areas. However, i don't know too much about Stoke Hill and in particular Elizabeth Avenue. Please be brutally honest! Thank you.

Answer
Up My Street use a wide variety of demographic data to give a profile of every postcode in the UK. I have always found them reliable. http://www.upmystreet.com/

Their full neighbourhood profile for Elizabeth Avenue, Stoke Hill, Exeter, EX4 7EQ is:

"Often, many of the people who live in this sort of postcode will be low income larger families living in semis. These are known as type 44 in the ACORN classification and 3.04% of the UK's population live in this type.

The Black Country and South Yorkshire are the main places for these communities, although they generally crop up in most urban areas. Towns such as Doncaster, Barnsley, Dudley, Wrexham, and Ballymoney are typical.

These families tend to live in reasonably large council properties.

Incomes are well below average with nearly a third of families earning less than £10,000. Unemployment is higher than average. Work is typically routine, in a factory or some other manual occupation. Jobs reflect the general lack of educational qualifications.

Households tend to be families with a number of school age children. Over 10% are single parent families. Home to these families will often be a three bedroom semi-detached property rented from the local council or housing association.

The lottery, football pools and bingo may offer the hope of wealth. Since money is tight, the payment facilities offered by catalogue shopping are an attraction in these areas. People with a car will own a low value second hand vehicle.

Shopping may be done in Morrisons or Kwik Save, and holidays may well be to a caravan park or a camp site.

Few leisure activities seem affordable. Angling is popular and people will spend time listening to music or watching television. The newspaper is generally a tabloid.

Family income Low
Interest in current affairs Low
Housing - with mortgage Medium
Educated - to degree level Very low
Couples with children Medium
Have satellite TV Medium"

Hope this helps.

Trying to plan a bachelor party for early May and we want to go camping. Since we'll be getting pretty wild, we need a camp spot that provides privacy so we don't disturb anyone else. We also need a spot that has activities for the day time (lazy tubing comes to mind).

Does anyone know of places in Virginia that fit this bill?

Thanks.

Is there a drop off or pick up for hiking in West Virginia?

Emily

We're planning a hiking and camping trip in West Virginia. We wanted to park our car and hike each day a little further North or South. Is there any known pick up or drop off places around West Virginia where we can get a ride to or from our car after we hike so we don't have to go in a circle? (Sort of like when you canoe down a mountain and they bring you back to your car when it's over).

Answer
probably, you could check a hiking forum like "SummitPost"

How can I get better at MW2 multiplayer?

best camping places on mw2 image

Matthew

Well I've had MW2 for about a month and I say i'm decent with a K/D of 1:2. However, I am not able to get a kill streak of anything more than 4 which is pretty frustrating when you constantly get your fach shot off by an enemy harrier or pave lowe. Are their any tips anyone can offer me?

Answer
I had the same problem when i first started playing about 6 months ago. For one, and this is pretty obvious but you just have to practice and play to your strengths. My input about the killstreaks is that you just need to use weapons, perks, attachments, and maps that suite you. I love the Salvage map and always do good on it. I hate Karachi and always get under 15 kills and that is absolutely horrible for me. Also you need to have your killstreaks building up to each other. A lot of people go for Chopper Gunners just because there fun and the normal set up is Predator, Harrier Strike, Chopper Gunner. In your case having trouble even getting a predator, you might want to abuse the UAV killstreak. UAV is a very under used killstreak and i don't know why. If someone is coming around the corner and you can see that on your radar then you could likely kill them before they have the chance to kill you. Another tip is to find a place that is populated heavily and use claymores. This is NOT camping. Camping is staying in one spot waiting for people to run by and you kill them. This is playing defensively. Your securing a perimeter and keeping it under control. You are staying in one area but not the same spot. Possibly going to other windows and other entrances making sure everyone is out of your space. Mainly just use what suites you play on the game types that suite you and be patient. I am 9th prestige lvl59 and I have only gotten 1 nuke but i know if i stay patient enough ill get more. I hope this helps and just try it out. You might be surprised at how it works.

The easiest way to get a good killstreak on COD MW2 online?

Owen

I tend to stay in the same place (camp if you want). Using Assault rifles (usually the F2000 or ACR) but lately i just keep seem to be getting killed before i get a harrier/chopper. HELP!

Answer
lol. bring out the charcol and hotdogs, its camping time :D...

, why even bother getting a killstreak if you are gona camp, it only pisses people off and no matter what your kill streak gets to, its not impressed, camping is for loosers.

and most people will kill a camper before you get a killstreak (fmj kill - grenade - noobtube ect).

both of these classes should be used offensively - advancing on the enemy

here, i will give you 2 class layouts, 1 if you are good and 1 if you are not so good....

if you do not have l337 skills, use this

scar-h heartbeat
spaz -12
sticky
flashbang
scavanger
damage
comando - or steady aim

if you have twitch trigger skills,

50cal - acog scope
pp2000
claymore
flash
slight of hand
damage or cold blooded
steady aim

killstreak: uav(4) harrier(7) and chopper gunner(11) dont use the ac130, you can get more kills with the gunship on any map over the ac130

I want to go camping with a group of friends in some woods and have a bit of a party. So does anyone know of anywhere we could go where we can have campfires, play music and drink but not bother anyone?

We are travelling from London so the nearer the better. Ideally we would camp in woods with a lake or near a beach. So it doesn't need to actually be a camp site.

Any ideas??? Thanks in advance!

Answer
Wild camping is illegal in England and Wales !
So any fires noise and groups getting drunk will attract the land owners and the police!
Stay in your own home and mess that up not the British country side!
Oh and by the way lighting fires in forests can and will land you in a whole lot of hell and rightly SO!
And most local authorities will also not allow beach fires thank goodness!

Camping in the UK? A question about internet access and power points?

In the United States, plans range from $15-$70 per month depending on the amount of data transmitted.

hi, my friends and i are planning on going camping at the end of may but we need somewhere that dgs are not allowed because one of our friends is terrified of them. info on anywhere preferably in the south-west would be really helpful. thanks.

Answer
There is a booklet called 100 best campsites which are really good and show the ones that are dog friendly/dog free and those with no children.

I think you should be able to get it at tourist information - I cant find mine as I am just about to move - but they were all excellent sites and lots down the south west which is where we went.

Where can a group 18 year olds stay for a week in England?

Tom

Me and my friends are looking to go on holiday, preferably near the coast of England. There are lots of places that won't let a group of 12 - 14 18 year olds stay, is there anywhere that will? And preferably somewhere that's quite cheap :)

Answer
You would need to go to the bigger holiday camps for that number as most places wouldn't have you....the other place would be student hostels and there are plenty of commerical sites you could search, as England has three sides of coast it depends on where you want to go...west, south or east.....................a group of 18 years olds that size would be a handful for anywhere................

Are there any cheap campgrounds fifteen-thirty miles or so miles away from Wisconsin Dells that are more secluded and/or are on water? Thanks!

Answer
Well I dunno exactly where Wisconsin Dells is but in Somerset WI you can go to Apple River. There is a camp ground and everyone floats down river. Not really a place for kids though. You can bring alcohol down the river so usually on weekends it is young people partying while they go down.
