Nice camping site near Los Angeles that does not require reservation?

best camping site at yosemite image

Lover of J

My family and I decided to take a spontaneous trip this week. We are looking for a relaxing place, preferably close to a river or lake but with the chance to view wildlife. We want to be in a place similar to a Yosemite scenic, but not that big or far. We're trying to avoid dry or over heated areas. We're also willing to drive far, but no more than 4 hours distance.

Does anyone know of a nice camping site that is near and does not require reservations?

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Research along the Kern River. Don't know about reservations though; in Southern California one has to think a year ahead, things are booked up now.

what does a single person do when camping?

Blueberryg

I am older person with 2 small dogs and want to camp. I tent camp for now and feel at a loss once I get to the camp site. I set everything up, read for a while, then draw. I take the dogs for a walk and come back and eat. I can't go on the tours, visit shops (Yosemite), no dogs allowed. I've tried to find other women who like to camp for over 2yrs-no one wants to go camp. What does one do when camping?

Answer
I'm not single but I do enjoy camping alone if I don't have someone that wants to go with me. I'm generally out hiking and mountain biking during the day even though it's best to not go alone. I generally go somewhere other than a national park so I can take my dog.

I love taking photos when I'm out and then spend the evening going through them on the laptop. You should give photography a try. You can find interesting flowers, bugs, rocks, etc right in camp. You don't need a fancy camera. Having an eye for a good shot is more important than the camera. I've had magazines use photos I took with a little point and shoot that fits in my pocket.

I am looking to book a short camping trip this summer. I want a place at least an hour outside of Portland, further is great too. It must be a place that has Yurts, because I have no camping equipment and I'm an amateur. So, any recommendations? I have looked on a lot of websites and have read a lot about most places, so I'm looking for personal recommendations. Wallowa Lake is booked, and Crater Lake is a no-go. Any suggestions?

Answer
lake timothy is pretty cool if you like swimming (it's kind of cold) or hiking/bike riding, it's like 45 min to an hour out of portland

Where are your favorite places to camp in Oregon?

Jadyn J

We live near Portland and are trying to take our family camping at the end of this month, I want to try somewhere new, Besides the state campgrounds, where do you like to go? Not to far way, I dont want to spend the day driving with 3 little ones and a hundred dollars plus in gas, hehhehe!!!

Thank you so much for your time to reply to this question..

Answer
The coast is one of our favorite places to go camping. The weather is likely to be nice this time of year, and finding a site that is close enough to walk down to the beach will provide your kids with a fun place to play during the day.
I've added some links to more information and campgrounds. Enjoy!

I am trying to plan our vacation for next summer, and cant think of any place good. We are tired of beaches, and amusement parks. What else is there?

Answer
Have you been to any of the national parks...Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc.? Take a camping trip in Wyoming (you can rent a cabin, take a fishing trip, visit Yellowstone, etc.) or in North Dakota.

Are your kids boys? They might like visiting the Football Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and then catching a Cleveland Indians game. And since you'll be on Lake Erie, you can either go fishing out on Put-in-Bay or (even tho you're tired of amusement parks) you could stop at Cedar Point, home some of the best rollercoasters in the country). Or if they prefer baseball, there's the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, followed by a drive to NYC to catch a Mets and/or Yankees game.

How much does a camping stove propane tank cost to refill?

Q. I need to know how much a 16 oz tank costs to refill, i know prices differ but I just need to know what to expect. I'm going to be refilling it at a uHaul place and using it for airsoft.

Answer
Here in the USA it's illegal to transport 16oz refilled small propane tanks or anything under 1/2 gallon. The big 1-3 gallon and bigger tanks or ok of course. A new 16oz costs around $2-4 where as filling a big unit they charge by the gallon around the same price $3-5 a gallon. There is an adapter you can get the lets you refill them from a bigger tank but it's just not worth the time or hassle.

Where is the cheapest place to park and camp near/in the PA Grand Canyons?

Faye

My friend and I want to go camping near/in the PA Grand Canyons (not the actual grand canyons). We don't have much money at all and don't want to stay in the State Parks which is 15-19 dollars a night. I would like somewhere for free or less than 10 bucks a night. We don't want to hike anywhere to camp. We just want to park and camp. Thanks in advance!

Answer
If you're that strapped for funds, perhaps you should delay your trip. Just pitching a tent and camping out isn't smart. Any legitimate campground will charge you at least that much per night. Here's a link:http://www.allcampgrounds.com/blog/?tag=pennsylvania-grand-canyon

I'm from Toronto and my friends and I want to go camping tomorrow. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to camp out near Toronto. We were thinking either:

-Rouge Park in Scarborough
-Algonquin Provincial Park
-Rattlesnake Point
-Any place near Wasaga Beach

Since we're not experienced in camping, what's the best place to stay?

Answer
Go somewhere with some scenery. I really like McCrae Provincial Park, Serpent Mounds, Balsam Lake Provincial, Blue Lake P.P. Those are all a bit far from Toronto. But if you're willing to go the extra mile for some really nice places, Algonquin P.P, Bon Echo P.P are very, very nice.

How do you camp in second life?

Dave

How do you camp in second life? I've only just started playing second life and I would like to know how to camp... what are the best places to camp and where are they?

Answer
There are literally thousands of places to 'camp' in second life. I'm assuming you're wanting to earn Linden$ while you camp? Here's what you do. Go to "SEARCH" and click on the "PLACES" tab. Type in either camp, earn lindens or free lindens and you will be directed to the aforementioned camping sights.

Camping is actually doing nothing for a specific amount of time to drive up the Sim's traffic numbers. You either sit or dance or scrub floors or whatever the animation is in the camp place you click on. It's boring but if you're wanting lindens, what else are you gonna do? Make sure you've removed the log out due to inactivity check mark or you'll be automatically logged out and no $L. :(

Good Luck and stay away from the "free sex" camp sites. You never know what will happen to your avatar while you scrub that floor.

What is the usual tuition for a good Equestrian summer camp?

Kisa

I want to go to an overnight summer camp any where in the states, i would like it to be a good one. so i was looking at culver but the approximate cost is about $6,500 and that is a lot of money. although Culver is a great summer camp and it has diverse activities to choose. Should i go to culver, are the prices of other good equestrian camps equal? and what other camps should i consider?

Answer
This depends to a large extent on where the camp is located and who is running it, Kisa. There are horse camps for every level of rider, in every state in the country ( I take it that you must be from Australia or somewhere in the southern hemisphere, where it's nearly the end of the winter) and they vary widely in terms of their costs and the types of activities offered. It would help if I knew a bit more about what your riding interests are and what your ability level is, but since you've indicated an interest in the camp at the Culver Military Academy, I can tell you a little bit about that.

Culver Academy is a private, military style school for girls and boys in grades 7 through 12 that is located in the northern part of the state of Indiana, in the American Midwest. You are correct about its reputation-it is well known as one of the best preparatory schools in the country, and is the home of the famous "Black Horse Troop" which has been seen and has perfomed at numerous events- everything from the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California to the recent presidential inaugural parade. The school does offer a summer program and camp, yes, but it's held during OUR SUMMER, which is the dead of the winter for you, Kisa, when you would normally be in school yourself. The impression I get from your question is that you may be thinking of coming here either this year ( it's already almost autumn here now, most summer camps are closed for the season, and our schools and universities have just opened for the fall semester) or perhaps in your summer, which occurs during OUR winter season. If you come to the States at that time, you'll be disappointed, because no camp operates year round, even at a place like Culver. If you want to attend a summer camp in the States, you are going to have to travel here at the BEGINING of your winter, or perhaps in the late fall. In addition, you'll need to sign up and pay your camp fees way in advance if you want to get a spot at a place like Culver ( and I will give you the name and web address of another camp which you should check out that is even better than Culver in a lot of ways) because these places fill up fast and competition for spots at them is keen. I am not sure that the school you attend is going to be very thrilled with the idea of your taking 3 months off in the winter to attend camp- that may not go over very well, and you need to clear it with the school officials BEFORE you sign up for camp or make reservations to fly over. Otherwise, problems could result- serious ones.

The other camp I want to mention to you, which does operate year round, at least to some degree, is the International Riding Camp for girls, which is located in upstate New York, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. ( The US has numerous mountain ranges- there are two of them in New York state alone.) IRC is also a privately owned and run camp, and they have campers from around the world, which may be of interest to you. Their website is www.internationalridingcamp.com, and you should check this out. Culver is a good camp, but it's not the only fish in the sea. You may decide you like IRC better. Good luck in your search.

What is every place that Percy Jackon traveled in The Lightning Thief book?

Olivia

In the book Percy went to many places like the museum camp Half-Blood I want to know what states he went to in order from 1 - the rest the last one should be LA because that's his destination be the first one to get it all right and you'll be best answer. And if you can add in the gods and monsters that he saw their and any items or weapons he used that will give you bonus points as long as their right.

Answer
First Percy had went to New York City. Later Percy Jackson was attacked in Metropolitan Museum of Art by Miss Dodds. She turns into one of the Furies and attack him b/c she thinks he has the lighting bolt. Soon Sally brings Percy to Camp-Half Blood which is safe place for him. Percy Jackson didn't his friend Grover was a satyr.

Unfortunetely an Minotaur attacks him and Soon he has 10 days before summer solstice ends, he must find the lighting bolt. His friends and him went on rough journey to find it. Probably first place he must find it and decides to travel west to Hollywood to find the ligthning bolt. But Luke already gave him the magic shoes. But they had go sort killing Medusa, Furies, and Ares god of war telling his mom is alive.

Soon they went to Underworld, and Grover had magic shoes and made it to over the edge of Tartarus. However Hades know that Percy had the lighting bolt but he had to leave his mom behind b/c he needs to retun to Zeus. He gave to Zeus and by doing that he went up 600 floor on Empire State Building.

Read the site if you still confused. Okay and good luck,

What happens now that my compassionate reassignment got approved?

I just found out that my compassionate reassignment was approved. But, HRC is having trouble finding a opening on a base near my family. My MOS is 91B. I need to be near gulfport, MS. I'm active Army. I don't understand the Department of Defense owns 44,000 square miles and can't place me somewhere close? Ridiculous!

Answer
Hello Daddy,

What? Just because the DOD has many bases do you think that they should send you to work at a casino on Highway 90 at Biloxi?

Maybe they will find a place on Keesler AFB where you can be assigned. MOS 91B is vehicle maintenance. Maybe you can be assigned to work with the Air Force at its motor pool or the Navy at Gulfport.

Just be patient. Remember, the NEEDS of the Army come before the WANTS of the Individual.

If the Army can't find you a place then maybe you will be offered separation from the Army to relieve your family situation so you can be near Gulfport.

What is the BEST scenic place to kayak on the coast of Washington State in the U.S?

Elena

Me and my husband want to either camp on the beach, wake up, and go kayaking, OR stay in a REALLY nice resort hotel and go kayaking in the morning. What to you think?

Answer
The Pacific coasts of Washington and Oregon often have 20 foot swells and rough seas. There are days where the swells are only 10 feet, sometimes less, but there's no way to know more than a day in advance when that might occur.

The best bet would be the San Juan Islands for kayaking. The water is protected from ocean swells, and there are many harbors and inlets where one can escape chop and current if necessary. There are many gorgeous resorts with fine dining and more, as well as rustic resorts. Orcas Island and San Juan Island have the greatest tourist capacity. Most of the other islands are much less developed, though those accessible by ferry all have campgrounds and a few B&Bs.

How to get better killstreaks in MW3?

best camping places on mw3 image

Ceebs

I play MW3. But I always have to use the support package because Whether I Run & Gun or Camp I always get picked out. I've tried using all the stealth perks, WITH claymore and Silencers, but people just run past the claymores and I can never get a killstreak, although I have been playing CoD for a good 2 years. Any suggestions?

Answer
Few things that help...

1) Always aim down sights when going round corners or walking down long corridors.
2) Learn to dropshot. Set your controller to tactical, and practice and be persistent on it. I sucked at it at first, then after like a week it was second nature to me.
3) Silencers tend to make the weapons worse on MW3. Assault rifles are okay silenced, try the ACR with Attachments proficiency, then extended mags and silencer, i think thats the best in the game.
4) If you run around a lot, think about putting steady aim on. Aiming after running is slow - steady aim pro speeds it up.
5) Bit like point 4 - but dont sprint everywhere. If you're 100% sure that no one else is there, then yeh, go ahead, but if someone does come then you'll be slower to react than they are, so walk, or better yet crouch
6) When you die, watch a few killcams...try and pick up things that other people do against you, cause with them it's obviously working.
7) Dont overestimate yourself with killstreaks, go reasonable.
8) Care packages tend to be lucky at the moment, might give you more confidence if you get a few choppers or something.
9) hardline? does that need more explanation?
10) Use killstreaks that kind of compliment each other - I use predator, Helicopter, then one of the 9 ones - usually overwatch. Run around, get a few kills, like 3/4, even less with hardline, then camp a bit for a kill. Get the predator, hopefully get 1, maybe 2 kills with that, if only one, camp more till you get the first chopper, then let that get you 2 kills for the next. When you camp, dont stay in the same place for more than 1 kill. you can stay in the same area by all means, just if people know you're doing that then they'll know where to get you :)
11) Experiment a bit - find routes that work for you as to where to go from spawns etc, dont just think where you're going yourself, think where other people are coming from too, and look around a bit, dont just look in the direction you're running.

Cant think of much else, but hope this helps :)
message me if you want more help

In mw3 do you have to buy the maps for 1v1 ect?

Gary

When i was in my cousins the other night he told me that he didn't have to buy them, he said that theres a code on the book thats in the case and you can download it from that? Can you do that?

Answer
I am assuming you are talking about Face Off maps. They include 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. I am also assuming you are talking about the Elite Founder card. The Elite Founder cards do not work any more, you had to activate them by December 30th. However, you can still buy Premium Elite.

If you are a Premium Elite member, then you will gain all the Face Off maps for free. However, if you are not a Premium Elite member, you will get 2 free maps and 2 paid maps. There are 3 other maps that are, currently, exclusive to Premium Elite members.

Below is information on all the Face Off maps if you are interested.

There are 2 Face Off maps that are free, Aground and Erosion. Aground is the map with the ships, Erosion is the map with the big tower everyone camps in.

The other 2 Face Off maps are included in the Collection 2 DLC, which costs 1200MSP ($15). The Collection 2 DLC includes 2 Spec Ops missions, 3 regular maps, and 2 Face Off maps. The 2 Face Off maps are Getaway and Lookout. Getaway is a house with a pool where you can drown in. Lookout is a bunch of sandy "forts" where one fort has two turrets.

The 3 Face Off maps that are currently exclusive to Premium Elite members, are Vortex, U-Turn, and Intersection. Vortex takes place in a small farm. Intersection is set in Manhattan, at the intersection of Fulton Street and Schwarz Road, it includes a basketball court, a theater, pizza shop, art studio, etc. U-Turn is 2 roads in Afghanistan and has some dry patches and tall grass on the side .

Hope this helped, have fun!

What are some ways to get better at BO Zombies?

Nicole

I am good at zombies, the highest round I've gotten to is 32 on solo. I can get to round 29+ with other players. But, I want to get to higher rounds. The only zombie map I play Is Kino Der Toten. Strategies, ways to earn points, or any advice at all would be much appreciated.

Answer
First of all, practice makes perfect. My unofficial strategy is to go upstairs from the spawn point, and turn right. Open the door and the go to the corner to your left, next to the outside place. Buy the gun there, and camp there and run in circles when there are a lot. And sometimes there will be a rangom gun box in there. But here is a proffesional strategy: http://bigdah.gamerkage.com/call-of-duty-black-ops-kino-der-toten-strategy.html

Any good camping spots for black ops in nazi zombies?

Anthony

specifically good for 2 players, at kino der toten. I found a good one in the main room where you turn the electricity on, if you don't turn the electricity on and stay at the end of the room, one person can get the window while the other can get them from a far distance. I can only survive about 15 or so rounds like this, anybody have any other spots? thanks!

Answer
Well me and my friends survived 26 rounds, the place where we camp is when you go outside in the ally, you open all the doors to the ally but not the door on top of the stairs ( you only open this one if you need to run in an emergency since there is a trap in the room) and the other door leading to the room you first start off in should remain closed as well until you need to open it.One person takes the window in the back while the other one shoots in the front in front of the stairs, the one watching the window should provide assistance in the event the front person needs it. Claymores should also be bought as a backup just in case. The place is also perfect because their is a spot in which the box spawns and silver backs (exploding zombies) don't go that way unless someone is coming back at the beginning of a round then they will follow you. We could have survived longer but our crawlers kept having seizures forcing us to start a round with really horrible guns.....

Oh and turn the electricity on to buy perks and use the teleporter because you need to use the pack-a-punch for sure in the 18+ as well as the perk, they are essential.

best camping places near london image

Cristobal

Hello my American friends, I am currently planning a road-trip in your country, probably for May. My idea would be to fly from London (I am French, please dont hurt me ha ha, but live in the UK) to Houston, Texas. From then on, I would like to go to San Antonio, then along the Mexican border and then all the way up to Wyoming, then down again through Utah (and so on). I will be travelling with a friend. So here are my questions:
- what car would be ideal for such a trip?
- what places do you recommend in particular?
- what is the average price of gas right now? (to plan my budget)
- Would it be too ambitious to think about doing so much in about 20 days? Or should I plan for a longer trip?
- What are the best places to meet people and share stories? I am quite keen on trying to understand the local characters and people a bit more...
Thank you, any tips will be appreciated...

Answer
Hey friend,

First let me say WELCOME! Now to answer your first question..

1) The best car to rent (hire) for the trip would be either a "mini-van" or a full sized SUV like a Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, Chysler Pacifica, Fod Expedition and rent from a company like Alamo that has unlimited mileage and decent daily/weekly rates.

2) I would reccomend a day trip in Mexico in the border town of Juarez across from El Paso, TX. I have been there many times in my travels and it is a nice town. You should take the walking bridge and get something to eat in town from the restaurant but do not drink the water or allow them to put ice in your drink (made from the same water of course) The city of Juarez is about a million people and is very interesting and impressive once you get away from the immediate border crossing area. They have US styled streets and shopping malls which are easy to navigate and breath-taking spanish architecure in some areas.I reccomend seeing the Grand Canyon, I reccomend stopping to see the River Walk in San Antonio which is a "must see" if you are in the city. The "Ogden Canyon near the Resevoir" is beautiful. Another beautiful place to visit in Wyoming is Jackson Hole. It has great views, good camping and white water rafting.

3) The average price of gas now is about $2.20-$2.35 though in some areas it is lower like $1.89. I guess you can count the consumption in a full size vehicle at .17 cents per mile for the 1,500-2,000 miles you plan to drive.

4) Is it too ambitious to do it in 20 days? It depends on if you have to drive back to Houston which may add 2-3 more days on an already short trip. It would take 6-7 days to drive that loop you propose non-stop without even getting out to see anything. I would think you might want to spend about a night or two in each place for rest and the ability to see it unrushed. if you stop at 6 places that is about 12 days of solid sight seeing and leaves you only 8 days to drive the remainder and try to meet friends along the way. 30 days would be alot better in my opinion because sometimes you might want to stay in some cities longer than a day. Some can't even be seen properly in a day. What you are proposing is like driving from Spain to Finland and then down to Turkey and back to Spain. Its a long drive.. Take your time.

5) The best places to meet locals are outside the major cities. Small towns, talking to cashiers and gas station attendants. Stop at farms and ranches and talk to the people there. They may have never met someone from New York City let alone from France living in the UK. It could be the highlight of thier lives. people in cities tend to be tougher and more guarded and they may either see you as playing a trick on them or someone who they can play a trick on but in smaller towns the mentality is different.

What 15 items would chris need to live in the book Into the wild?

Caitlinn

The book is by Jon Krakauer. Chris McCandless or also known as "Alex". I was wondering if NYONE has any good ideas for this. Thank you

Answer
1. A guide... more than one... guides on food-gathering in that area (a resource guide) and a guide on weather patterns there at the time (like a farmer's almanack).

2. Some money... it's always better to have some than none at all... for use to hire a helper (like transport across a river, or a team)... to even use for kindling if needed.

3. Better equipment... including boots, gaiters, clothes, a survival blanket and a first aid kit... a hunting knife...etc.

5. A system for heat... whether a small propane stove (not sure if he had one) ...and most certainly a small hatchet for firewood.

6. A map... a map of the entire area he hiked, specifically of the highest and lowest points of the river nearby, including several places to cross it in nearly any weather... a map he didn't have that could have saved him.

7. A hand-cranked radio.... such a device could have warned McCandless of many things about the immediate future... weather, who might be nearby, etc.

8. A small ham-radio... any system to send out a strong message that the young man needed help... even a survival whistle... and/or a strong flashlight with extra batteries... and/or a mirror to catch the reflections of the sun in intelligent ways....

9. A means to hunt and fish... he didn't have to use a gun... but snares and a fishing line may have helped him tremendously... and knowledge about how to use them.

10. A sleeping bag for trekkers... a water-proof and cold-resistant bag...one that's also discouraging to bugs and other interlopers.

11. Ways to cook food... snared, fished or gathered food... a hibachi... any heat source... plus a cookbook on how to prepare food caught or gathered in the wild there.

12. Common sense... if all the locals (even just two of them) met near an area meant to be hiked... all advise a person not to so with the equipment seen... or during that season... use common sense and their advice.

13. A team... one does not need to hike in the wilderness with a team... but it's by far better to have some team (even two people) know exactly where one will go and the route one will take to get there... they can camp elsewhere... even fairly far away... but some team with a time-table and equipment for help if needed... and it was needed.

14. Another book... the cookbook regarding what is gathered or hunted... or of the adventures of John Muir, Jack London and others... not one by Kerouac, etc....

15. A steady light source... a closed (and light-weight) hurricane lamp... a miner's lamp worn on the head like a hat-band... any non-electric device for constant light... with any batteries needed for any light that requires long use of batteries.

What is the best duffel bag for a teen girl that meets the following requirements?

bells98

My teen daughter needs a duffel bag to take on a three day trip with her in February that is cute. It must also be durable. If you can include a brand name and/or a place to buy one it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you know of a good duffel with or without wheels or brand for week long summer camp trips it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Answer
Victoria's Secret sells canvas duffel bags in a variety of colors. They come in a travel set (wheelie, duffel, and make up bag) or you can go to a store and just buy the duffel.

What killstreaks do I need to have to get the nuke on mw2?

Q. I really want a nuke but i can never get one i need some help on what killstreaks i need and if I have to camp or not.

Answer
Um, I believe you can unlock the tactical nuke at any level (assumin the level unlocks a killstreak) All you have to do is select it from your killstreak list. Keep in mind this is a beastly killstreak reward and it's not something you're going to get to use all the time. IT REQUIRES YOU TO GET 25 KILLS WITHOUT A DEATH (unless you get the perk that requires 1 less kill, in that case it only requires 24 kills without a death). I would expect you'd need to camp a little to get this, or at least be an awesome player. The most kill's I've ever got without a death is like 15 or something. Besides that... there's nothin you need, just make sure you have the tactical nuke selected as one of your 3 killstreak rewards. (ALSO i doubt it drops from any airdrop)

EDIIIIIIIT -------------------------------------

Watch this video, it shows you exactly how to get the nuke http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEXftdvgMHo

it says this in the sidebar, not what I said, what the dude who made the video said, lol :
"This is a step by step guide to getting the Tactical Nuke

STEP 1: Get a good class for mid-long range camping, this can be a sniper, or something like the FAMAS/M16. Make your killstreaks the Harrier, Chopper Gunner, and Nuke.

STEP 2: Rack them kills up, once you get 7 kills (Harrier) it should be cake if you put your airstrike in a good place, get 4 more kills and then call in your roflcopter, spray the shit out of the red marks, if you kill them before they can aim their rockets it should be ez to get 14 more kills from here.

STEP 3: Call in the nuke and when the game ends talk shit, IE: ROFLMFAO GIT NUKED GIT GUD WP SMFD NJOI 50 XDDD eZ"

How to play call of duty modern warfare 2 good.?

I must accept the fact that 98% of the time i am just running around and hoping that ill find someone, but usually its the other way around. So can anyone guide me/ explain that how to play this game without dying 20 times.

Like when do you pay attention to radar, how do you predict where is someone going to be, why should i pay attention and how about spawning. Tips about sensitivity, etc. And how do i become good at camping.

PC

Answer
I've only played this game on the PS3, but i'll relate my experiences the best I can for ya.
I personally use inverted Y axis and the rest default, medium sensitivity.
Firstly I would say shooting and hitting the target generally gets you the kill assuming neither one takes cover and there is a tiny bit of server lag. Memorize the maps, where those a-hole snipes will be, find good counter sniping points, look for places that you can set claymores when you get them so on. Good thing to do when starting is get used to CQC Assualt rifles and such, basically aim down the sight if the target is roughly 15+steps away, closer? hipfire it then.
You look at your radar when your crouched out of a main running path or when your enroute to a known enemy location, glance up there to check to see if there is anyone shooting nearby and base your tactics on that info.
Camping is what im told difficult to do in cod mw2, I would say there are some situations in which its viable, but if killcams are on, your location will be given away at the first kill and they may rain noob tubes on ya. But dropping a care package and killing any enemies that try and get it. C4/clays ftw or camping a domination capture point. or not flipping the spawns and just keeping the enemies spawning in one-three areas and not advancing just killing.
To predict where someone is, listen for footsteps, its harder without a headset on, listen for gunfire, if its close and there is no green arrow nearby, that means its an enemy, take an ambush position, wait 5-10 sec, go backto original spot. If you kill someone, you most likely are able to kill them again since the best rule I've learned is, people are stupid, they'll just keep rushing you, if they do actually get around your allies and kill you, switch classes up, or move after every kill.
Pay attention to your radar when you see a red dot with rings around it which means predator missle and take cover ASAP, away from your allies, minimize deaths. Or if you hear enemy bombing runs/pavelow/chopper gunner, blah, then take cover, or get out your stinger/at-4.
You should be able to figure out what guns do what the best for your play style. Or copy what other people are doing, with the exception of akimbo shotguns with marathon/lightweight, that is a looked down upon class type from where i play.
But ultimately its upto you on how you play, do you snipe really good, are you close quarters combat better? all around average? You'll get the hang of it in no time.

what is a good tent for a family of 4?

kelty family camping tents

Answer
Before looking for a tent, decide on how, when and where you're going to use it. Many people use their tent only for sleeping, and setup another shelter (tarp, easy-up or screen room) for cooking, eating and relaxing (in any event, you should never cook or eat in your tent). So floor space and height, while a consideration for night-time comfort and organization, is not a major factor. In hot weather, a tent with lots of mesh windows and doors will be more comfortable, but in cooler weather these mesh panels need to be able to be zipped-closed to block wind and retain heat. Rain protection is an important consideration, so features like a full-coverage rain fly (outer sheet) and bath-tub floor design should be present. Another family-friendly feature is a two-room tent, which has a zip-up wall in the middle, gives a little privacy for changing clothes.

When looking at tents, keep in mind that the "person" capacity a tent advertises is sleeping capacity, which is typically measured to be around 82"x24" per person. That can be pretty cramped quarters for family camping, so I usually recommend a 6-person tent (or larger) for family camping. Being able to stand-up inside the tent usually isn't of big importance, particularly when you consider the extra effort required for setup. But a tent that's at least 4' high will allow you to sit inside in a folding chair if the weather is nasty.

Coleman, Eureka! and Kelty all offer good 6-person family camping tents with several affordable models. The two-room Eurkea Suite V6 would be my first choice because of its fly design (which can be converted to an awning) and height, though it's a bit pricey ($210-$299, depending on reseller). A close second would be the Kelty Grand Mesa 6, ($149-$200), which also has a good fly design. The Coleman Montana 6 would be my third choice, followed closely by the two-room version of the Coleman Sundome 6, (both cost around $120).

Campmor is a good site to research different tents, and they usually have good pricing.

we are going camping for the first time what is stuff we should bring i dont know what to take please help 2 alduts and 2 kids

Answer
Ok lets start with the basics of your trip. You probably dont want to spend a ton of money so lets get you a list that will keep you cumfortable and having fun without breaking the bank.

Number one start with a good tent. Eureka makes many tents that are very durable and not all that expensive. Other good brands include Kelty, Coleman and Cabelas. Just get a tent that fits your family cumfortably. Pick up a can of seam sealer too. Seal your tent before you use it to ensure you will be dry. You will also need a tarp for your tent to sit on. All you need is a cheap blue tarp from your local home center.

You will want a air matress to sleep on. Try them out. They range from cheap foam ones to inflable ones. Again pick what one is cumfortable and fits your budget and your type of camping. Then you want a sleeping bag. If you are camping in the sumertime a cheap square bag will do just fine. Mummy bags and other types are for colder temps and they are also lighter. Take a blanket along just incase any of you get cold. You can line you bag with the blanket for a tosty warm night.

For clothing dress for the weather. Have some type of rain gear wether that be a 10 cent poncho or a 200 dolar rain suit. It is always smart to have some warmer clothes just in case it does get cold. Dont wear your best stuff either because camping is hard on your clothes. Extra socks are always a great thing to have. I cant count how many times I was glad to have a extra dry pair of socks. It is also a smart idea to pack your clothes in ziplock bags or dry bags. That way if the bottom of your tent gets wet your clothes dont also get wet. It happens more than you think.

For cooking any camp stove and a set of pots will work. Just have extra fuel for your stove. When cooking you can do any type of food. however for your fist trip try simple food. Remember you dont have a dishwasher to wash dishes in so dont make too big of a mess. Cheap dish pans can make dish washing much easier.

Go to a sporting goods store that isn't too expensive and really look at your gear. Take your time picking out what you need for what your doing.

Dont forget a flashlight! Also bring food packed for how you will cooked. The more prep you do at home the easier it is when your camping. Packing up also pack for the way you are going to need things. That way when it is dark your flashlight is right on top. Also practice setting up your tent at home. That way you will be able to set up your tent no mater what the conditions are.

Is there any free or very cheap camping near Seattle Washington?

ozziedroop

We're visiting Seattle in a few weeks to look to move out there from Minneapolis and are on a very tight budget so camping is the only option. We would like to camp free somewhere or very cheap, not these places that charge $40 a night for a tent site. This will also be our very first time camping so somewhere that makes camping "easier" would be great. Thanks

Answer
You have several options, but cheap and "easy" camping for first-time campers is a difficult combination.

The Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest is within an hour to the east of Seattle off of I-90 and northeast on Highway US 2. You can go into the forest on old forest service logging roads and find all sorts of places where you find a place to camp for free. If you get a book on hiking in the northwest you can usually find places where you can park and make a camp near many of the backpacking trailheads.

However, there will be no amenities like water, picnic table, campfire ring or restroom faciilities. There may not be anyone nearby for miles if you forgot something important, get lost, have a medical emergency, mechanical problems with your car, etc. Cell phone service isn't always available if you need to call for help. I do it all of the time, but I've lived and camped in the area my entire life. I wouldn't recommend it if you are unfamiliar with the area and first time campers.

There are several "developed" campgrounds in the national forests that are within an hour or two from Seattle. The cost to camp is about $14- $25 per night depending on how many facilities they have in the campground. For example, campgrounds with flush toilets cost more.

There are several Washington State Parks with overnight camping within an hour or two of Seattle. A tent site costs about $20 per night. The closest is probably Dash Point State Park -

Some other state parks within a couple hours away from Seattle with overnight camping include:
Kanasket-Palmer
Federation Forest
Lake Easton

There are also county parks with overnight camping. The closest to Seattle is Tolt MacDonald County Park - overnight tent camping is $20 per night.

Snohomish County to the north of Seattle also has several parks that have camp sites. Tent camp sites are about $20 per night

Most of the camgrounds close to Seattle fill up. If you know the dates you want to stay at a campground reservations are recommended.

See all of the links below for more information.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your first camping experience!

I'll save 300$ if I camp rather then stay at a hostel. I know it sounds absurd but it could be a solution. I'm thinking maybe the University of British Columbia campus.

Answer
You realize it's going to be cold and wet in February in Vancouver? It would be winter camping, requiring winter gear. There's a campground in North Vancouver, just over the Lion's Gate Bridge from Vancouver, Capilano RV Park. It's mostly RVs but they have some tent sites. It's probably full for the Olympics already. There's another RV park in Burnaby(Cariboo RV), and the next closest ones are in Surrey. You can check BC Provincial parks on the net, but most of them close in winter. I guess you could always find a place in a piece of bush somewhere, but the places I mentioned are the only legal places to camp around Vancouver.

Places to stop on the way to Vancouver from Amarillo TX?

ithek_thun

My friends and I are wanting to go on a road trip next summer and are wanting to stop at some cool places along the way. One of the things we want to do is stop in Colorado and camp for a night. Any good suggestions on places to camp along the way? Google maps suggests 287 N to I25 through colorado, then I 80 through wyoming and utah, then a change over to 84 in Idaho, to 82 in Washington. If you have a better suggestion for a route as well that would be cool. Thanks.

Answer
If you can visit Great Sand Dune National Park in Southern Colorado. Fun place. Afterwords drive to Durango, Colorado...very cool town. Exit Durango for Montrose CO by way of US 550...bar none one of the most scenic highways going through the mountains. Unbelievable.

I'm considering buying a Northwest Territory 18 x 17 ft. Eagle River Dome Tent w/Screen Porch from Kmart for 94.00 ($56 off). (link http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_9990000023613611P?vName=Fitness+%26+Sports)

However I have not been able to find any reviews on it. I'm looking for someone who owns this tent, has used this tent, or owns a similar Northwest Territory tent. Please let me know what you think of it.

Also if you own any tent close to this size 18X17X6.5 do you have trouble finding campsites where you can set up a tent this big?

Answer
I think you get what you pay for, and this brand, from this store that isn't very much. It might last a couple of seasons, but I wouldn't put it through a rain storm or any significant wind.

Also the size seems way overkill. If I was car camping with a large family I'd prefer if we kept it two, or maybe three, people to a nice sturdy dome tent. Then you could put up a screen tent for sitting around together. Those smaller tents could also be used for other things, like kids camp outs, backpacking trips, while this giant tent is only good for one thing.

What is the best family tent?

romeochewy

We have a 4 month old, but only a 2 person tent. We are looking to start camping again starting next month. We want one we can hopefully stand in (hubby is 6'2"), maybe has different rooms, but not a necessity. A screen porch type thing would be nice, but again not necessity. We do want enough room to have a place to get out of the rain when it does. It can get cold and decently windy where we go. And we'd love something that is easy to set up. We have 2 70 pound dogs that would also be there with us.
We have a van so it dosen't have to break down too small, although that would be nice. And something with a carrying case that actually can fit back in once taken out.
We want an independent one, not one that attaches to a vehicle,

Any suggestions?
