What is your favorite camping/fishing place?

Kenneth G.

I'm around Dupage county,Illinois near Chicago.

Answer
A camping/fishing destination that I've stayed at near Chicago?

The best fishing/camping experience I've had (relatively close to you) would be at Gunflint Pines Lodge MN near the border of Canada.

Go to http://www.gunflintpines.com/camp_cabins.shtml

Camping cabins are fantastic! They eliminate the hassle of tent and camp set-up, are more secure and comfortable than ANY traditional tent camping, have electric facility's for heaters/electric coolers/hot-plates/ Etc and generally sleep better after a hard day of fishing.

The Gunflint Pines lodge is a GREAT fishing destination where you can catch (literally) 50-100 fish per day! Gunflint Pines is located on the border of Canada and has access to tons of fishing opportunity's because of the many various lakes in the region.

And at $57 a night you can't find a better accommodation, (period!).

Gunflint Lake has great Walleye and Lake trout fishing.

Loon Lake has great Small-mouth Bass and Northern fishing.

Go check it out.

Where would a good place be in southern California for a newly retired couple to RV camp in?

wonder.bre

I wonder if we could find a place within an hour of the beach and fairly safe. We're kind of scared - we're ranchers from South Dakota so we don't want to be in a city. Thank you so much - this is our first year & it is exciting!

Answer
Hey Wonder Bread,

If you don't want to be in a city, SoCal is really not for you. It's hard for outsiders to really grasp this, but you basically have nothing but cityscape for 100 miles from downtown LA in every direction. Places like Disneyland are right in the heart of it.

Despite this, I can still recommend a few sites since I'm an RV'er myself living in "The OC".

-Carpinteria State Beach: About 100 miles northeast of LA, near Santa Barbara. Look into their volunteer programs. You can stay for free if you put in a certain number of hours in the ranger station checking people in, and helping people get settled into their spots. It's right on the beach in California, and we've met some of the nicest hosts from different places. This is the most family-friendly campground I've ever seen. In the afternoon, small kids on bikes have the run of the place. Probably the only place in the state where you can just cut your kids loose to go make friends and play. Your friends will be SOOOO jealous.

-Anaheim RV Village: Just about 3 blocks from the front entrance to Disneyland, it's very nice. You also get to see fireworks every night. Yes, it's in the city, but it's such a nice park and location, I couldn't resist.

-Pismo Coast Village: In Pismo Beach, one of our favorite spots. LOTS of retirees here.

-Campland on the Bay, San Diego: Another really nice park, on the northern end of San Diego Bay. Perfect for visiting Sea World.

-Flying Flags RV Park, Buellton: Nice location along the Central Coast

-San Simeon State Park: Right along PCH near Hearst Castle. No hookups, but the views more than make up for it, and you're just a few miles from Hearst Castle. If you want hookups, then stay at Pismo and drive 50 miles to Hearst Castle.

-Marin RV Park: OK, now we're in NorCal. But I couldn't resist giving this little park a plug. The best part about this park is the location: You can walk 10 minutes to the Larkspur Ferry, which takes you to the Ferry Building in San Francisco. From there, you can explore the city to your heart's desire. This is what we did a couple summers ago, and we had a blast.

Check out rvparkreviews.com. I have a few reviews on there, and you can explore other parks in the state.

Good luck!

How much weight 4 rooms family outdoor camping tent??

Melissa

Answer
Four room tents are pretty rare :-) Any tent this size is going to be quite heavy and only suitable for car camping. I tend to agree with the previous poster that 2 large tents would be better than one huge tent.
The The Grand Pass Family Dome made by Mountain Trails is a two roomed tent that sells for under $200 another to consider is the Great Basin made by Wenzel at only a little over $100 it represents excellent value for money.

What is the average size of a camp site for tent camping?

Dax

When camping in either a private or state campground, how big are the campsites on average?
Put another way, how much tent can we fit in a spot? Are there restrictions?
In reference to the first answer, we actually have a 40' coach but that goes in an spot with hookups. It's been many years since we camped in a tent and want to do some of that too but I'm being told that 12' x 12' is the max tent camping site or at least in Co state parks for example.
I have a hard time believing that myself. As for a tent, we're still shopping but looking at large as in 10' x 14'
I figure if a tent trailer could fit then why not me but what do I know?

Answer
Whatever size tent you get, you'll be fine. Campgrounds are not as small as you've been told. Choose the tent based on what's comfortable for your family or camping group. Even consider a second tent for kids who are a little older and want some space.

Choosing a great campsite has more to do with whether it's wooded or not, weather it has grass or mud, whether other people have to cut through your site to get to theirs, and so on. To find out about those things, research the campgrounds at www.woodalls.com. Woodall's also publishes books listing campgrounds in various regions of the U.S. They describe the campground, give directions and phone numbers, and rate the facililites and cleanliness. You can call them and ask where the best campsites are for your preferences.

Where is the best place to go camping in Northern California? And why?

Answer
I would have to say Big Sur or Yosemite, although there are many wonderful places to camp in Northern California!

Big Sur because it's on the coast, the scenery is beautiful, there are a variety of camping options from environmental walk-in campsites to RV parking, it has a Bohemian atmosphere, there are opportunities for whale watching, and it's just plain funky & fun. See http://www.discovernortherncalifornia.com/big-sur-california.html for more information.

Looking for somwhere in the hills
We are not looking for a campsite, we are looking for wild camping and it is now against the law to wild camp round Loch Ness, Due to the amount of deaths in the loch

Answer
They have good camping sites, specially reserved for americans in the middle of Loch Ness.
@ spell checker, you really are showing your ignorance, for telling me that I have the wrong spelling of the word Ness. It's the dunces cap for you and a stand in the corner for a day or two.

Are there any camping sites in England that allow alcohol consumption?

Ocean

Preferably in the north east of England ? Me and some friends want a cheap drinking holiday so we have been looking around and the campsites generally look like they are for people who are just relaxing.
We dont want to be disturbing other peoples fun so I was wondering if there was anywhere we could go

Answer
If you go onto a mixed site, with tents and caravans and some have chalets, you'll find that most of them have a bar, a restaurant, and fun things for the kids.
My bit top end fave is way up at the top of Scotland at Cape Wrath.
The campsite bar is the village pub becaause the other option is the community hall with a bar, a long mile up a steep hill away and the next one is on the road to Tongue...but....yeah, that's a nice pub. Brill... If you have a driver who isn't drinking.
That campsite bar can hold 400 and boy does it rock some nights......read the first few lines of the review

Happy camping.....you're safe at Sango. There's a fence round the top of the cliff.....

Where is a good place to camp in southern california?

Not like a RV park or stuff. Like out in the woods and pitching up a tent and stuff. Do you guys know any good places like that for a family of 3 people to go camping? Preferably by a lake :P

Answer
Maybe big bear is a good place, there is a lake there, or the Antelope Valley, there is also a lake there. The best place would be the Angeles National Forest, but there is no lake there at all.

where are good camping places in southern california?

Samantha S

For ages 18-21. Information would be nice thanks!

Answer
Joshua Tree is a great place to camp. but it is only feasible to do so during spring & fall. Other times it is too hot . It also gets cold in the winter, but you can still camp there. Some of my favorite places are Buckhorn, and Chilao campgrounds in the Angeles National Forest. There are also many great campgrounds near Ojai in Ventura County, my very favorites being Wheeler's Gorge or Rose Valley. Happy Camping!

What should I look for in a tent suitable for ukcamping?

Kate M

Answer
Hi, I do a lot of walking cycling and wild camping all over the UK.
Waterproofing and stability in wind are important. There are a lot of choices from small one-person lightweight tents to heavy canvas bungalows for family use on camp sites.
For British tents Vango is the top dog. They also make excellent sleeping bags and some of the best rucksacks available anywhere.
The top range Vango Force Ten tents and Vango rucksacks are used on Everest and other high mountains.
Karrimor is also an excellent choice for rucksacks, as are Berghaus ( a British company, not German as it sounds) and Lowe Alpine.
Vango is an anagram of Govan in Scotland where the company is based though not all the tents are made there. Some are made in China (what isn't these days) but the quality control is very good and they have the same standards applied to them as British made tents.
Vango has a reputation to keep as a world leader in tentage. It's a good company that gets involved in outdoor events, not just selling stuff and it works closely with the DofE board and outdoor sports groups.
For a brief history of Vango products see under the tents
http://www.greatoutdoorsdirect.co.uk/c-43-vango.aspx
My Vango mountain tent is a tunnel design so it's easy to cover with an extra plastic sheet when wanted. It's light enough, very strong, and has never let water in on the HIghlands in wet Welsh Wales, in wild places on the Alps and Andes and on the wet island I live on (IOM) even without an extra cover.
An advantage of an extra cover is having a large one enough to provide dry space at the side of the tent for rations, a bike etc.
It can be a cheap groundsheet from B&Q or Wickes or similar or just a large sheet of polythene from a builders merchant.
Plastic or brass eyelets can be bought cheaply from camping shops like Millets and take a few seconds each to fix so you can peg the sheet down, with guylines if wanted.
Stay away from dome tents if you want to use an extra cover. They are very awkward to cover because of the shape.
I also use two Coleman tents which are always good and have never once let me down even in horizontal rain in the Cuillin and the rest of beautiful Britain and in the Alps and Andes.
Here is a long answer for UK camping, old but as true now as then

What are some good places for vacation in or near upstate NY?

AJ

My family and I are looking for a vacation place north of Long Island. We are currently considering places like Darien Lake amusement park, Sylvan beach amusement park, Niagara Falls, Lake George (6 Flags), Binghampton, or Mystic CT.

Needs to be apropriate for ages 20-80.

Any suggestions for other places or comments on the places I have already listed would be helpful.

Answer
check out the finger lakes. many camping spots including private and state parks. lots of cute small towns for shopping and dining.

Niagara Falls is not too far from Rochester NY and even nicer if you have never been to Canada is the cosmopolitan city of TORONTO.

In the summer, be sure to visit their hidden secret, TORONTO ISLANDS which are a set of islands with ferries running to/from where residents take picnic baskets, bicycles, coolers and spend a day at the beach...

Hope the Above Info Helps!

Where to go for Grad Camping Trip on Vancouver Island, BC?

Christina

im planning a grad camping trip for my high school grad class on Vancouver Island, BC... possibly around Parksville, Tofino, or the Gulf Islands....but I don't know where to go. We would want a place that isn't particularly family-oriented, because we're young and will inevitably make some noise. A place with like a group campsite would be best. we don't need any special amenities, just a campfire, some bathrooms, and showers. Any ideas? anything will help!!

Answer
There's no campsite I've ever been to that doesn't have noise a curfew, 11 pm at the latest, and pretty much all campsites are family oriented. If you make too much noise, even before curfew, expect to be asked to tone it down. The only one I've ever heard of that isn't family oriented is near Nelson BC. Miracle Beach, just north of Courtenay, has a group site that's a little removed from the rest of the campsites.

Grout Pond Vermont Camping?

Jim M

Hi, I was reading about this place Grout Pond in Vermont, and it looks like a great place to camp. Has anyone ever been there? If my friends and I were going to try to walk on there on Friday morning, what time would we have to leave?

Answer
I used to live in Manchester, VT and went to Grout Pond many times. The better sites are the ones further back along the side of the pond further from the parking area, but there are no bad campsites at all. Of course I haven't been there in two years either, so I'm a bit dated with my info.

I don't know what you mean by "walk on" either. The sites are first-come, first-serve. For specific info about what time you may start camping or what time you have to leave contact the USFS Ranger Station in Manchester Center.

Im a nature lover, any place to go hiking/camping similar to those in Hong Kong??

s3xY

Answer
I'm not too sure about the nature scene in HK, but in Singapore there are qte a few (which may come as a surprise to many). The largest is the Bukit Timah Reserve (as noted previously) which is part of the Central Catchment Area. If you really really adventurous, you can actually start in the Upper Thomson area, Pierce Reservoir, and do a super long trek that takes you all the way to Bukit Timah. This will take a day.

The Treetop Walk is another good choice if you want somethign that can be done in half a day. Note that the TTW itself is not long, because that's just the highlight of the whole trail. Some people spend all that time looking out for it that they miss all the cool nature ON THE WAY!

If you like marshlands, then I'll also say Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, but my main recommendation would be to check out Pulau Ubin.

It's an island off the northeast coast of Singapore, the last vestige of "old" Singapore, and there's the Tanjong Chek Jawa Reserve on the island. It's been "renovated" with amenities to make sure that visitors don't disturb the natural mangrove beach there. It's really quite nice. Takes about 45mins to walk to the beach, which is just over 1km long, I think.

You can also camp over there at the Noordin, Mamam or Jelutong Campsite. It's free, but on first-come first-served basis, so you have to check with the ranger at the jetty. Jelutong has campfire facilities, while the others do not.
Or if you want something more "luxurious" there is the MCC Ubin Resort, with its chalets. it's not grand, but there's showers and toilets.

There are a few Chinese restaurants and a Muslim stall on the main section of the island (about five altogether, I think), and another restaurant at the Ubin Resort. These are the only eating places on the island as far as I know, so bring your own food and water, as there is hardly any drinking water at the campsites.

Definitely a good way to go, you can see nature, see a little of "old" Singapore before it become a modern metropolis and sleep under the stars.

Anyway, check out the National Parks Board website in the source list. It's got a lot of info there about places of nature. See under the "Parks and Gardens" heading, where you will get a comprehensive list of parks (altho this term is used VERY LOOSELY - the small patch of greenery above the MRT train station is also listed as a park).

Or check out the Nature Reserves heading for the more challenging trek sites.

Anyway, hope this helps you!

Are 2 days enough for visiting major tourist attractions in Munich? Or 3 days?
I plan to do Munich after taking a German course in Goethe Institut Frankfurt. But if i do that, i have to change my flight time 3 days later ( my booked flight from Frankfurt to Hk is 3rd September, so if i do Munich then i will change my flight into Munch to Hk 6rd September) It costs me around 100 Euro to do it, i i remember it correctly. also i would like to meet my German friends who are taking internships in Munich . I haven't seen them for 2 years since we said goodbye in Hong Kong

What tourists sights do Munich offer ? In your opinion, how many days do i need ?

Arkansas Camping Spots?

Connor

Does anyone know what 'Dispersed Camping,' or 'Boondocking' is? It's where you go out in too the wilderness on off-road trails and set up camp out in the forest or deep wilderness. I live in Oklahoma and havent had any luck finding any places to practice this old-school camping method.

I would love to do this in scenic areas such as Arkansas mountains or someplace closer to NE Oklahoma that offers off road trails, hiking spots, swimming holes, etc. I live VERY close to Tulsa, Ok. I drive a 97' Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 so im well equiped to do this.

I have a 97 Grand Cherokee 4x4. Would love to 'get out there' and go camping with my friends in the wilderness.

Anybody know a good camping spot near banff/ Calgary AB?

We are looking for a good spot to go camping in the woods in tents. we do not want a family campground but something more "friday the 13th" style?

Answer
You can pack into the backpacking trail along 30 mile creek trailhead that starts at a parking lot outside Banff near the downhill ski lifts of Mount Norquay.

Don't quite know what you mean by "Friday the 13th" style but if you are looking for danger, that valley is grizzly bear territory. Last time I backpacked there we found bear scat and trees that had been clawed 8 feet above the ground. And when we got back to our van after 5 days in the backcountry, the guy parked next to us had his car door ripped off by a bear who broke in to get a bag of food he had left inside. That should add a thrill to the outing for you.

The campground at Lake Minnewanka outside Banff is cool -- near the lake, trails for mountain biking, secluded tent sites in the trees but also concrete bathrooms and covered cooking huts with picnic tables and grills. No big RV's or screaming brats. One thing about camping in the Canadian Rockies is you can pretty much count on rain or snow any time you go out so having a place to get out of the occasional rain is a plus.

You could also check out the Climbers Campground across from the Athabasca Glacier tongue along the Icefields Parkway. Had some good times there in my crazy youth. Watch out for the drunken demented climbers with their ice axes.:-)

I've hiked in Kananaskis (near Canmore) but never camped out there -- there are likely some good secluded campsites in that area. The 1997 movie "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins was filmed there in Kananaskis (it was supposed to look like Alaska). Rent the movie if you want to see what that area looks like. Of course, there's that scary grizzly in that one too.........

Have fun! And bring lots of bandaids...............

How to choose a family base camping tent?

Ivy

I am planning to buy a family camping tent, what things should I consider?

Answer
1. Consider how many people will be sleeping in the tent and if you'll be requiring one or two tents to house everyone. Make sure you have enough room for everyone to be comfortable. Every tent has its dimensions specified on the package, listing how many people it will house and how big it is. If you're looking for roomy comfort, subtract the number of people the tent says it will hold by one or two.

2. Figure out what style of tent will best suit your needs. There are two basic types of tents: dome and cabin. While there are a variety of styles of both, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. A dome tent is easier to assemble, having only two poles for the tent and one for the top cover. Since it's shaped like a dome, you'll give up some space in its height. A cabin tent offers more room since it is built in a square shape, but because it has more poles, it can take longer to assemble and be heavier to carry. If you're looking to house more than four people comfortably and have only one tent, a cabin tent is probably the best option.

3. Consider what extra requirements you need in your tent to properly accommodate you and your group. Do you want an extra attached screen room or a tent with several rooms? Do you have a tall person in the pack that will want to stand up straight while inside the tent? Will you be spending large amounts of time inside the tent? All of these things need to be thought out before you buy a tent. There are many varieties of tents on the market that come at a variety of prices.

4. Think about the area where you will be setting up your base camp tent and what the weather will be like. If you'll be camping in a cold region, you don't want a tent that has a screened top with a liner that allows more air inside. You also don't want a tent that allows little ventilation if you're staying in a hot area.

5. Consider the camping experience of the people you're camping with. If you're a novice camper, you might want a tent that's easy to set up. Generally, the fewer poles you have to deal with, the easier it is to set up and take down and the lighter weight.

Where can I rent a camping tent for really cheap?

justine

My friends and I want to go to Yosemite for like a trip and we were trying to find a couple tents that we could use. I looked at some places that were pretty steep in price and was wondering if there was a place i could rent for really cheap. I don't need anything too fancy, though it would be nice. I am looking for tents or a tent that can fit four people.

Thanks!

Answer
Renting a quality tent for family camping is a waste of money when you can buy a quality family sized tent from Coleman for less then $75. and Colman tents come with a stay dry guarantee. Besides that you don't have to hassle with bringing it back in to the rental place. A rental agency will tack on charges for damage and run up your charge card limits and when your traveling you need access to your credit for emergencies. To discover out in the middle of nowhere that your over limit is a very big hassle. Here is a link with a good price on colman tents

tough sleep away camps?!?

Allison W

i want to go to a sleep away camp that really works you and preferably has a lot of out side work and tough ass jobs. maybe a military camp but the thing is i don't have thousands of dollars to spend on it. I'm joining the army and i wanna get a little away from my family so that when i go i don't get TO home sick -.-' anyone know any good camps that work the shit out of you and is sleep away that dosnt cost to much? serious answers please. by the way im a 17 year old girl and i live in florida, hopefuly that helps?

Answer
Good thinking. It doesn't do any harm to get yourself prepared a bit but don't worry a lot about it. An average level of fitness is all you need when you join the Army.
The Army is well aware of the homesickness problem for young people who may have not been away from home by themselves for long periods before. There are welfare people and cousellors available, and a lot of folks just like you who will be your new friends for a while.
The Army is good that way. Meet people from a lot of places.
Training and tasks are graded. You won't be in at the deepest end straight away but it's still a bit of a hard time for many people.
Biggest tip for surviving is attitude. That is the one thing that makes all the difference in military service, or any other job.
Try to keep smiling...except on parade,haha...they don't like that at all.....and don't let the bast**ds get you down...that's one of the commonest expressions in armies all round the world.
I was an outdoor instructor in the Army when they found I knew about outdoor stuff anyway and did it for interest, and I'm not the soldiering type according to my school mates who laughed their socks off when I volunteered for career service....hahahaha, old beanpole will be dead in a week..
Three months later I went home for a long weekend leave with six sports medals, two from Holland, won at the Nijmegan International Liberation Marches with teams from round the world.
I marched there four more times too over the next few years and worked on a medical team treating the blisters and sprains....hundreds every evening after the day's marching was done.
I got a few drinks bought me on that weekend at home...and some embarrassed apologies from my old 'mates'.
Keep your chin up....it's not so bad if you keep a sense of humor.
You know there are hundreds of 17 year old girls from many countries backpacking round the world any day of the year?
Even in places where some grown men wouldn't fancy going to, like Africa and the wilds of Cambodia and Vietnam. I've met loads of them in Africa, Asia, Peruvian villages on the high Andes, all over the world.
Yup, even American girls holidaying and trekking the wild country in Vietnam.
That's pretty good.
There are lots who go camping by themselves too or with friends, either abroad or on local trips.
You can work yourself as hard as you want but take care....there's being hard and tough and there's being sensible about it. Number one priority is YOU.
Florida isn't exactly the Rockies but you can still get some hard trekking done and there are lots of places you can put up a tent and sleep for the night.
I wouldn't spend thousands or even hundreds of dollars on a camp either.
I've got more sense than money. Some people have more money than sense.
Nice to have plenty of both ...dream time for most of us,haha.
Here are some sites where you can camp free of charge or for little cash paid out.
http://www.floridastateparks.org/ . . . . . .
http://www.nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/camping.htm . . . .
http://www.stateparks.com/ocala.html . . . . . .
http://www.biscayne.national-park.com/camping.htm . . . . . .
A bit about clothes, cooking and other stuff for trekking and camping. How hard you work is your decision but start slow and steady and build it up to higher levels if you want.
If you can carry a 35lb pack for a few miles, run well enough, walk or march at a good pace for eight or ten miles, and keep a happy face doing it, you'll be well ahead of most others you'll meet in the new arrivals hall when you join.

True/False: You've camped in an online match/game before?

Skittle De

what game xp

Answer
True.

I don't do it a lot, but damn I get a lot of hate messages on XBL when playing mw3. Not all of them for camping, but the majority certainly is.

It's funny.

Some people just can't stand losing, and will throw whatever "insults" they can to justify why they lost.

If you're the sort of person who sprints round a corner in life & death situation, then surely in a game as tactical as this you deserve to be shot in the face by the person who predicted you were going to sprint round the corner.

More fool you for sprinting towards that corner after you spawn, hell bent on revenge, only to find the guy has pre-empted you again and is waiting for you somewhere else.

So to all of you out there who hate me because you managed feed me a match-winning killstreak. When you say you hate me because I'm a camper, you're really just saying you hate me because a) you're predictable, b) I clearly employ better tactics and c) you got beat, plain and simple.

Now I must stress this part, some people seem to think of camping as cheating, that's ridiculous. If someone is going to hide in some obscure place and snipe every person that say, pops their head up at a doorway, then that person is being even MORE predictable than the people he is killing, and therefore should be pretty damn easy to kill, stop complaining and go kill him.

Regularly I will get kills that are pegged "camping" but really I'm just playing smart. Say for instance I hear footsteps coming towards a doorway, I COULD pop my head out the door and hope my gun is pointing at the guy, but I could easily be off by 90 degrees giving him plenty time to shoot me as no doubt he's looking straight at the doorway he's walking towards. The smart thing to do is to just wait that 3 seconds for him to come in and pop him in the side of the head. Don't hate me because I was camping, hate me because I have surround sound, and you don't have the silent footstep perk.

Another classic is when my (dumbass) team decide they're all going to go one way round the map, leaving themselves in a prime formation for someone sneaky to come up behind them and take them all out. Me being a team player, and playing to win, I'll cover their flank, if they're all powering forward making a lot of noise, no doubt showing up on the map as having a big circle-jerk party, more than one guy on the opposite team is going to do a lap of the map and come from a certain direction to try and fuck them. I spot these situations and wait on these guys coming. Then we win.

I don't think I've ever sat in one place for very long - either a) you're not getting any action, so it's time to go on the hunt - or b) you've had some action, so the LAST thing you want to do, is be predictable and stay where you are

I haven't really ever been stressed out by a camper, if its the kind who stays in one place sniping, they'll maybe get 3 kills on me max, before I fuck them up, then usually you can kill them several more times as they attempt to work their way back to their camping spot.

If it's the kind that does the same thing as me, I enjoy the challenge, the SPRINT>SHOOT>SPRINT>SHOOT>SPRINT>SHOOT laps of the map some people do bores the hell out of me, having a little game of cat & mouse with someone is way more fun, and more rewarding.

On some occasions you'll simply be outgunned though. And the angrier you get at this person BEATING YOU, the easier you make it for them to beat you even more, if you can't take them on, stop feeding them kills and killstreaks, and just leave them the hell alone - and advise your team do the same. He'll get bored and come out of his hole eventually.

Can you give me some awesome reasons why camping in MW3 is wrong?

Brandon Is

I play on private matches a lot with my two friends and I talk too them on the phone when I do. But they like too camp ALOT! And I've yelled at them plenty of times too stop doing it. One of them gets it but still camps ever now and then but now constantly like the other one likes too. But I also dont know if I could call it camping for the one that dosent camp that much because she likes too lie in prone in the middle of the match so I can't say she's camping. The one that does camp however likes too say she won't camp any more after I've asked her repedetly not too camp and then she will say she won't and then will do It right in front of me but either way I would like some good reasons on why they shouldn't camp period. They also think that the a lot of the spots too hide where put there so people could camp, I would also like some people's opinions for if they where put there too camp or not.

Answer
Well camping isn't always bad, it depends HOW you camp. For example, snipers are typically campers by nature as most snipers like to stay in one spot for a while and pick off shots, obviously this isn't always true and wasn't even true for me, I'm always a sniper but prefer to run around constantly and try to always get on people's blind side.

But if you constantly camp in the same place, or camp in a place where you know for a fact people can only enter from one direction so your pretty much guaranteed a kill when someone comes along then your a "dumba*s fuc*king fag*got camper" which is the general term.

Where is your favorite place to camp in Southern California?

dreamteam3

Answer
My favorite place to camp is Lake Cachuma. It has everything you need not like some campground that are not secured this place is huge and it a safe place to camp... Not so long ago a heard that a person was killed in one of the local camp grounds. when I'm at lake cachuma I don't worry.
Each Camp site has running water so you can rinse off dishes.
Each camp site is huge with room enough for 3 tents and two cars so that you can bring a bunch of friends along. This place has flushing toilets as well as pay showers that have hot water. The lake also have boats for rent and you can also fish the down side is that you can't go into the lake but they do have two swimming pools.
You can also go exploring they have Indian painted caves... A casino is not too far away, Solvang and wineries are not too far away.
but the best part of this place they do no allow loud music after midnight so for me that cool because to don't have loud druggies that didn't pay for the spot next to you blaring loud music till 4 am.

what are some cute, unique, original, and romantic things i could do for a girl?

unknown ma

Answer
The most romantic thing a guy has ever done for me was:

My parents decided that they wanted us to be more like a family, so we spent the entire summer camping. I found it pretty lame after a while because by the end of the weekend me and my mom would get into fights because i was usually the one babysitting my brother and my cousins that came. So i finally had enough and said i didn't want to go the next weekend because i had no one to hang around with. My mom came up with the idea of having me invite my boyfriend as long as he slept in a seperate tent.

I agreed and went with my boyfriend. When we got there, the campsite/park-thing was having a fireworks because it was their 50th anniversary or something. My parents didn't want to go because they were playing poker with my aunt and uncle in the larger tent, and my brother and cousins were sleeping. So i asked if Me and my boyfriend could go and they aqreed.

When me and my boyfriend got there, it was a large hill that overviewed the lake, and in the middle of the lake there was the boat that shot the fireworks. On the bottom of the field there was a stereo system where they played music. Me and my boyfriend laid down our blanket on the ground and got ready to watch the fireworks.

The fireworks only lasted about 15mins. But when we were there we laid back to the point where he had his arm around my back and my head was on his chest. after the fire works everyone left and went to the park that was about a 5 min. walk from the lake. When everyone was gone we just laid there looking at the stars.

sidenote->(i wanted to be an astronomer when i grow up and so did he)

When every one left the stereo system played a bunch of really slow songs, the one that stuck in my mind was aerosmiths "don't want to miss a thing". And while we laid there looking at the stars, with my head on his chest, he said to me "I could spend the rest of my life looking at the stars, the planets and everything in the universe, and i guarantee i would never see anyone or anything as raiant as you."

And anyone could imagine how mushy and sappy i got after that. Ofcourse i kissed him, and it was definately the best night of my life.

I love you patrick
-Katie

P.S. this happend this summer so it was just past my 15th birthday.

What are the best camping spots near San Diego?

mayerj72

I would want there to be a lake or river if possible. Please only provide me with 2-3 of your favorite campgrounds and not a whole list. Otherwise I won't be able to make a good decision.

Thanks!

Answer
In San Diego county there aren't any really outstanding campgrounds near rivers or lakes, but here are some you might enjoy. I have camped at all of them, unlike some of the other responses here which seem pretty clearly to come from copying the internet as opposed to having actually been there.

Green Valley Falls Campground in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park comes to mind as it's right near a river and there's nice hiking. My only hesitation in recommending it outright is that it's in an area affected by recent wildfires and they've been clearing trees out of there recently. I'd suggest you contact the rangers for an update. It's got mostly giant oaks there along with a few pines. It's in a mountainous area with lots of nice hikes. And it's not too far a drive. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_ID=667

Another nice place near water would be Palomar Mt State Park, Doane Pond Campground. It probably takes only 20 minutes to walk around Doane Pond so it's not too big but I have seen people fish there, so it's big enough for that. There are also several creeks that run through the park and beautiful views to the ocean on clear days. It's quite nice up there, and next to the park is the famous Mt. Palomar Observatory, which is open to the public but you have to check out ahead of time the days and hours as it's limited visiting. Since it has a famous telescope there (actually a number of them on site) you know that it's a pretty good place for clear skies at night and star watching. However, it's elevation is high enough that if you plan to go camping soon, if you are going to be in a tent as opposed to an RV, it's going to be getting cold soon at night. http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/637/files/palomarmountain.pdf

A third place I thought about is in the Pine Hills area near Julian, at a county campground called William Heise County Park. It's very pretty there, pretty hikes, one spectacular hike through the mountains and trees with a panoramic viewpoint of the desert and the Salton Sea. Bonus if you are going soon is that you pass an orchard right outside the park boundaries with apples you either buy by the pound on the honor system, already picked, or you can go out into the orchards and buy your own. They taste so much better than what you buy in the stores, you'll want to get some for family and friends. Not much in the way of water features but as I said, it's a pretty park. http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/parks/Camping/heise.html

If you would like camping by the beach South Carlsbad is nice, but it's a little strange as you camp very close to a road and there's road noise that might be irritating if you're camping in a tent. However, on the other side is a spectacular ocean view and access. I'd guess if you were in an RV or use earplugs you'd do fine. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=660

Another option would be the San Mateo Campground near Camp Pendleton which has a wonderful trail to the beach along a river canyon to the famous surf spot the Tressles. The campground isn't particularly good or bad, sort of undistinguished, and it's strange that you can hear the shooting range at Pendleton in the background sometimes. But the trail thru the canyon to the beach is really quite unique and beautiful http://www.caopenspace.org/trestles.html

What kind of tent should we get?

TaDa

I don't know anything about camping, but we're a family of four and will be going on camping trips with the Boy and Girl Scouts. What kind of tent should we get? What style? (Idiot-proof set-up would be good.) What's a good brand? (We're in Texas, so we're more likely to be camping when it's hot not cold.) Thanks!

Answer
For car-camping I always advise families to get a separate three-man, three-season, nylon dome tent for each two or three people. Maybe some families enjoy a slumber party atmosphere the first night, but by the second night I'll bet most people would prefer a little privacy.

Some people see one of those big two or three room "cabin" tents and think that's the answer, but those things are overkill, often too large for the campsite.

Even though you're camping in the summer, a dome tent with full rain fly is essential in case of a freak storm. If it's hot you can take it off, unlike a cabin tent which is usually just one layer. Some dome tents have more mesh screen rather than nylon on the inner layer and those would be the coolest.

REI http://www.rei.com/ has many good quality tents, including their own brand which are a great deal. http://www.rei.com/product/745955

If there's any chance the Scouts might be going on a backpacking trip sometime in the future, and are required to bring a tent, you might want to think about the weight of that second "kids" tent and instead try to buy the lightest 2 man, 3 season tent. This one is reasonably light for two people to share carrying it. http://www.rei.com/product/705525

I just remembered, after all that, that I also always advise people never to buy tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, etc. for their first camping trip(s) and instead to borrow or rent the more expensive gear to give yourselves a chance to learn what your personal preferences are without spending big bucks. REI also rents tents, sleeping bags, pads, backpacks and camp stoves. They have six stores in TX: http://www.rei.com/FindStores?state=TX&radius=900

How much weight 4 rooms family outdoor camping tentï¼?

Melissa

Answer
Since you are from Hyderabad ,you need not go further ..Visit Pappikondalu from Rajmundri .I have seen this wonderfull place on earth by steamer service on Godavari river from Rajmundri .Its one of the rarest cruize journey in India far far better than those lousy ,boring boat cruize in Goa .

We will see many panoramic views of nature while traveling in a boat in the Stream of Godavari River (one of the largest rivers in India, and dominant in South of India), Papikondalu are situated in Eastern Ghats. The river Godavari flows through Papikondalu. This is the place from where Alluri Sitharama Raju has fought the Britishers. He fought Britishers with the help of Koya tribal people and by raiding police stations for weapons.
As the mighty Godavari River races past the hills taking the course that resembles a narrow gorge, it appears to be in hurry. The launch ride from Kunavaram to to Papikondalu- the confluence Point of Shabari River with Godavari where from the river turns brown and turbid- is a pleasant experience. As the launch gets closer to the jungles which cover the river route all along, it would be a visual delight and feast of colors for a naked eye. The jungles are inhabited by colorful tribal people. Papikondalu is believed to be a place where all the sins are cleansed.
During the Boat journey from the width of Godavari in between the two banks will be less than one km thereby getting narrowed up to the nearest minimum at Papikondalu. A kind of sweetest experience that journey goes on in a way in between the two towers will be enjoyed at the spot.
During the journey, one can have the darshan of Lord Yoga Rama at the pilgrimage center Sri Rama giri. A legend about Papi Kondalu is the Lord Rama and goddess sita dwelled here during the vanavasa. People believe that Lord Rama used to be under Yoga Samadhi while he was spending the days in Dandakaranya. The bird âJathayavuâ (A Bird in Ramayana epic) was stated to have fought against Ravana nearer to Sri Ramagiri and fell tired getting its wings broken While Seetha was being taken away. Hence this place was used to be termed as Sokkanapalli at first and later as Rekhapalli.
The Shiva temple, located atop a hill of Perantalapalli, is sacred to the resident tribalâs and one needs to follow their traditions strictly. For an hour or so, we dropped anchor here to discover the gushing waterfalls and lush greenery that surrounded the place. The downstream journey from Parantalapalli was all about refreshing the hours gone by. By taking a both in the water fall (Small water streams) will be cool one, thick rain forest and other flora and fauna adds to scenic beauty of PapiKondalu.
The journey is expected to take about 7 hours along the downward stream. One of the challenges parts of the journey is the negotiation with the drifting sand which makes the path of the boat extremely dynamic. It is the skill and experience of the local sailors that makes the journey look easy while in reality it is very tough. Clean river water with the reflection of lush green hills, gentle breeze flowing across the river, can be your picture perfect setting for sure. Papikondalu range is especially popular due to their co-existence with the river. Except during summer, the river is full of life with people. However, several tribal communities fill the hills with life from ages in search for their livelihood by agriculture, fishing and handicrafts. One of the interesting things that can happen in the journey is a possibility to camp on the river side in tents in Kolluru village.
Staying in the Bamboo Hut Cottages at the bank of river Godavari in Kolluru village is a very fantastic experience. Camp fire on the bank of the river Godavari, Seeing the fishermen fishing in the river in the nights, playing the beach volleyball, Kabaddi in the sand of the river, Fishing, Trekking the Pap hills, spending with the tribal peoples and going deep in to the forest will be mind blowing. Star gazing while sleeping on the banks of the river Godavari will surely bring out poet in you.
Many tribal communities infuse life in the hills, which are their homes and the only source of livelihood by agriculture, fishing and handicraft. The journey to Papikondalu is dotted with temples and scenic points. There are tribal areas around Papikondalu. So many tribes are living in this forest. The tribal sells the handicraft made by bamboo wood will available Munivatam, Perantalapalli. Papikondalu is the one of the finest representative forests of the Eastern Ghats known for the big cats like Tiger, Leopard, wild pigs, deer and the large herbivores is also a treasure trove of the birds.
The Papikondalu are a place apart, we will find acres of green fields, white smooth sand, Green color water in the river, panoramic view of sun raise and sun set, occasional toddy toppers, smiling villagers, beauty and honest tribal. It has become the favorite destination for hundreds of nature lovers. Pilgrims and to

Spring Break Camping East Coast?

Woogie

My buddys I are trying to find a place to go camping for spring break. Last year we went to Jekyll Island had fun but want a place with more bars/people. We would like to so swimming so a warm body of water would be nice (does not have to be ocean). Also a beach would be nice. We are all in college so would like to stay away from the family type of camping. If anyone has a great place please let me know!

*We live in Dayton, Ohio and would not like to drive the whole trip

Answer
Myrtle Beach is nice if you want lots of people and partying. Watauga Lake, Boone, Blowing Rock are if you want less people, more relaxing, and still plenty of places to drink beer. And much closer drive.

Whats a some beautiful places to camp in the USA that are close to the east coast?

jesse wood

No where hot (Not in the south) washington is an exception..

Answer
I live in North Carolina and one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to was the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC. They have lots of places to camp (just google them)-- I know it's in the South but it really doesn't get that humid there in the summer. We live in the Southern part of the state where it gets real humid and we go there to cool off. : )

Does Malaysian Chinese love China?

OMGItsMe

Malaysian Chinese (The Chinese who migrated from their mainland to the Malay Land long time ago), what do u guys think? Does Malaysian chinese still love their mainland? Or They love Malaysia more?

Answer
I have come across many Malaysian Chinese working in the Mainland, they are very nice people and are hired mainly by foreign firms working in computer and admin departments due to their language ability, their pay is not as high as Hongkongers, Singaporeans and Taiwanese too.
Many of them see China is a place for their temporary job assignment, as for living permanently they´d prefer moving to Singapore over China.

DL, you are indeed a loyal CCP follower, you will not give up a single chance to bad mouth even your birth place in order to shoe shine CCP. What you said about the Vietnamese is just one-sided not supported by any news clip, article nor video.

In the 70s, if you are really born in Hong Kong you ought to know the City was not rich as today, the livilihood and standard of living then was quite similar to the Mainland of today, HK had only about 5 million population but had to support the daily living, meals, medicals, so forth of over half a million Vietnamese Refugees on the tiny island.

It is binded according to the UN rules that refugees are kept within a site in order to minimize disrutpions to the host country, refugees are not the same as immigrants, dont understand why you nor your Vietnamese friends not able to distinquish between the 2. Some Vietnamese stayed in HK for more than 10 years before US and other countries accepted them and some never get accepted and Hong Kong just have to take them as citizens instead of kicking them back to the sea or to China. After caring for all the Vietnam Refugees for more than 2 decades at Hong Kong taxpayers account, Hong Kong people had never complained nor asked UN for any compensations. During those 2 decades, some Vietnamese brought tremendous social problems to Hong Kong, money, medical and expenses is one of the burdens, the Refugees carried with them all sorts of diseases and mental illness after years of horrible fighting in their own country. Many Refugees sneaked out of the refugees camp, stole things from the neighborhood, some even committed serious crimes like murder, robbery and rape. If you are a real HK born you would not exaggerate things to bad mouth your own birth place in order to please your CCP boss. Please ask any refugees from all around the world ie those Africans staying in S. Italy due to the recent Lybian war, if any of them can travel around Italy at one´s own free will, and if any refugees ever given VIP or even immigrant treatment???

Since your 2 Vietnamese friends say China is treating them so terrific, why the hell they have to flee to the US and not go back to their motherland instead? This is such typical CCP tactics seen on CCTV, always good at making a fool out of themselves by bluffing and exaggerating the slightest tiny tinny.

To go back to this question, many Malaysian Chinese love to stay in Hong Kong, so you can say they love `China`.
