Also, do you know of any around North Carolina? I don't necessarily mean just ghosts. Whatever really. Faeries, vampires, the Moth man, aliens, etc. I am just curious to see how close I live to a haunted place and I want to see what the ten most haunted places are. Thanks :)

What is the best thing to do for planning a trip to Great Lakes, Illinois by plane?
Angela B
My finace is in the Navy and is graduating out of bootcamp on Aug 18. I never traveled out of louisiana, so really don't know what to do as far as planning this. Could someone help please?
Answer
My niece just graduated from boot camp 2 weeks ago. After Pass and Review all graduates will be allowed off of the base for the first time since arriving. They can't go more than 50 miles from the base. That pretty much leaves Chicago. It seemed like every recruit ended up at the mall of all places. I guess mall deprivation runs rampant at boot camp! Be aware that they cannot bring cell phones back onto the base, and in fact they will and should be aware of exactly what they are allowed to bring back before they leave. They are going to have to report back to base by 9pm Fri. and if they are one of the lucky ones not getting shipped out Sat. morning they can be off base from 8AM--8pm Sat. As far as sightseeing, be prepared for crowds both Friday and Sat. at all of the major tourist sites. Navy Pier has great dining, Brookfield Zoo is a really great zoo, and Chicago has some of the best museums, particularly The Museum of Science and Industry. Please check out Great Lakes Online website, it will give you lots of information on lodging, and many of the hotels closest to the base offer discounts for family and friends coming for graduation and also offer a shuttle service to the base. Chicago will be hot, hot, hot in August so dress comfortably, and have a great time.
