great camping sites in the Silicon Valley Ca. or around the Bay Area?

Aubrie

My boyfriend and I just moved to California a few months ago and were wondering where are some great camping sites around the Silicon Valley or the Bay Area?

Answer
I grew up in San Jose and could just go on-and-on about where to go.
- Big Sur
- Big Basin
* Santa Cruz Mountains
-Skyline Park / Saratoga Springs
* Santa Cruz Mountains w/ amazing Castle Rock!
- The Pinnacles
* East Side through Hollister, more car camping and a pool!
- Sand Dollar Beach
- Angel Island
* San Francisco, bit chilly but fun.
- Manresa / Sunset Beach
* Near Watsonville beach camping

There's so many more too! Please feel free to e-mail me for more. Also, if you have a chance try stopping in a Borders. There's usually a Local section where you can check out local hiking / camping place.

After prom camping in the Bay Area?

Eloise

After prom, about 10 of my friends and I thought it would be fun to do some camping, but I can't seem to find a site where we wouldn't be bothering people. Most sites have quiet hours before 11, and prom doesn't even end until then. I've heard if you get a 'group' campsite the quiet hours don't really apply, but I'm not quite clear. Just to be clear, we're not going to be really 'partying'. Probably some music, a campfire, something low key, but probably not super quiet. Does anyone know of a campsite on the peninsula that would allow something like that? Thanks!

Answer
Not without driving into the woods for dispersed camping in the middle of the night so that or the group site. Also as a camper my self the one thing I hate the most is folks coming into the campground after lights out for the majority of users and making a ton of noise till god knows when in the morning. Be polite come up with another plan. or save the trip for the next day. Groups sites go quick so get your reservations in pronto.
