I want to go camping in central Illinois or central Indiana in a haunted campground... someplace real not a halloween pretend camp.

Is it appropriate to have a second reception if your families are from two different places?
Melanee
My fiancee and I are from two different states. We live in Illinois, where his family and friends live, but mine are all on the west coast primarily in California. The first thing we are trying to decide is where to have the wedding, and once that is decided the question becomes do you have another party for the other location? Is a pre-wedding party tacky? It gets so costly to have two receptions but I don't want people, especially family who can't travel like the elderly or those with young children, to feel left out. What would you think would be best?

So seeing as how people are being absolutely rude about money and whatnot. why dont you have your one reception after your wedding. then plan a trip to see your other family..but dont make it a "reception" make it a barbeque, or a picnic, or a camping trip. like the others said, if they wanna come, they will...TRY to attend. its hard traveling (i have 5 kids 7years and younger) So go to a state park, or city park, reserve it for a day, spend 50 dollars hamburgers and chips, bring along your pictures and videos from the wedding. dont spend all the money on flowers or dj's instead bring a boom box out and play what you want. its a much CHEAPER, not so elegant, easier way to do a double "reception" good luck and congrats!
