Where could I find a free place to go camping in southern on central New Hampshire?

Some friends and I are just looking for a place to camp for a night in the outdoors. Somewhere secluded and surrounded by trees would be nice. it doesn't have to be a legit camp site if you know off a place for enough out of the way to just set up a tent that would be cool too.

Check the websites for the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and your state parks department. Look for areas where dispersed camping is allowed. With it being summer time, you may not be able to go into certain areas or burn an open fire. So be sure to get the 411 on the laws. Good luck and have fun.

Free Camping Spots in the White Mountains of New Hampshire?

So I camped a few times for free on this dirt road that led to the trail head of a 4000 footer in the white mountains that had at several areas used for camping. These were all free, and it was first come first serve. Only a fire pit and a stream behind the site. It was completely in the middle of nowhere, which was the best part. I was wondering if anybody knows any more of these backwoods camping sites that are completely secluded, free, and are basically an open space. I love camping in the White Mountains and would love to explore different areas! Thanks fellas

The spot you are talking about is a a pay-to-camp area. But nobody checks it. Honor system. And there are plenty more like that all around the area.
