Where to camp on the North Gulf of Texas?
wonderdrag
We're looking for a quiet, off the beaten path place to camp next week. We've never seen the Gulf before and are interested in a campground near the water (beach?). We only have one truck and a tent so a big RV park is unnecessary. Any suggestions? We'll be coming down from the Austin area and are looking to travel no more then 3 hours if possible.
Thanks! All suggestions will be considered!
Answer
Not North Gulf but Corpus Christi is like 3 hours from Austin. They have RV Parks on Padre Island. Its on the beach really pretty. There is alot of stuff to do in Corpus though. There is the Texas State Aquarium, The Lexington, and a Couple of Museums, plus its on the water. Just don't search South Padre Island, that's way too far south than you probably want to go. Also try Mustang Island. Here are a few websites that might help.
