Where is the best place on the east coast to camp on the beach?

Courtney

I'm trying to take a camping trip next week and the place we picked in North Carolina just doesn't seem that great. It's completely isolated on it's own little island. As nice as that sounds, I want to be able to go a store to get food or do something at night.

I would like to be able to literally open up my tent, walk a few feet and be in the ocean. Any suggestions would be great.

Answer
Well I believe i know where your talking and yes it is very isolated, I want to try it there myself, but don't have a 4x4 set up to do beach travel yet. It is going to be hard to find a place on the beach that is not over ran with RVs. You might want to check these sites out, you might be able to find what your looking for. If you find a nice place let me know, I might try it. I don't think your going to find a location like the island your talking about. There are just not many places like that one around. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Good Places To Go Camping On The East Coast?

ToastedBac

I live in Maryland and I plan on going camping with a friend this summer, I was just hoping to get some suggestions on places that are relatively close to Maryland that would be fun for camping.
I don't have a problem with driving 6 hours away but anything further would be a bit much for me.
So, what are some good places to go camping on the east coast?
Anything's welcome, campgrounds, state parks, etc.

Answer
We ( my hubby, me and 2 sons) loved camping in Chincoteague, VA. We stayed at Tom's Cove campground right on the water. The kids were able to fish, and crab and had a ball. The beach of Assateague and the wild horses were worth the short trip over the bridge. Here is a link to the campground.
