Your gifts you sent to the refugee kids in 1992-93?
BlacKni
In 1992-93 I was in a refugee camp in Kenya, and I remember getting education gifts from students mainly in the US, and every little box looked the same, inside the gift box was a ruler, pens/pencils, a ping ball, etc", also inside the gift boxes were always a little post card from the student sent the gift, a message and their addresses. Well, we were not a place to respond and mail back anything. I think the gifts were sent via UNHCR, or UNICEF, anybody who participated this?
long story.
I want to know about you!
Answer
not in 1992, but there is a charity called Samaritans Purse that sends shoe box gifts to children in war torn or poor areas that would not normally receive gifts. I send two every year, and fill them with sweets, stationery, toys, hygiene equipment. It is a little something from me to a stranger, who i know would appreciate it. i would not want that stranger contacting me to thank me! there is absolutely no need. If you enjoyed your packages as a child, and are now in a position to reciprocate, then maybe you could send a parcel to a child this year and pass on the goodwill that way. peace to you.
