Considering relocating shifting to Rishikesh with family and settling down there.?

joyace21

I am from Delhi. I am seriously considering to shift/relocate from Delhi to Rishikesh or some other closely similar location. My idea of relocating to Rishikesh is to have more open spaces, spacious house, better weather, being close to nature etc.

At the same time i have few apprehensions,

1. How about the electricity/power and water situation in the region.
2. How about law and order and safety in general for residents in the town.
3. How about schooling as kids are about to start their schooling from next session.

also i want some information on the locations within the city Rishikesh where i can buy a plot of land ranging between 500-1000 square yards for arounnd 50 lacs. I dont want it closer to the heart of the city as my don't need to because i work from home and also would like to stay away from noise and closure to nature.

I have asked a lot of question in one but your detailed replies would be highly appreciated.
Kindly do provide me answer with whatever details information that you have.

Regards

Amit S.

Demographics http://www.ask.com/wiki/Rishikesh
As of 2001[update] India census[11], Rishikesh had a population of 59,671. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Rishikesh has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 68%. Stay safe
A holy city it may be, but Rishikesh draws more than its fair share of criminals and conmen. Don't walk around alone at night and beware of the motives of sadhus offering one-on-one tutoring.

Watch where you step, cows and their leftovers are abundant. Watch out for the sometimes brash food stealing monkeys, too.

[edit] Get out
Shivpuri is one of the most visited places around Rishikesh, and only 10 km away. It is the hub for many adventure sports like river rafting, camping and trekking.

Should I join The Caravan Club or The Camping and Caravanning club?

James

Following from my last question, I'm wondering which club, if any, I should join.
I've always camped (under canvas), and am now on the verge of getting a touring Caravan, so I imagine my tenting days will get less and less.
I've always had a certain prejudice against these kinds of clubs, mainly due to my Parents always seeing club members as 'snooty', while I was growing up.
I see things a little differently now though and am opening up to the idea. And I also like the idea of well run, organised sites, child friendly, or child free, depending on the situation, and having some back up if things go wrong.
I also understand that the clubs offer discounted Van insurance etc. What's this like if you have any experience?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Answer
The Good Sam club here is the USA is more of a association rather than a group of people that gather to go camping. I belong to it for the discounts we get on campsites and goods or services. They do offer networking so you can find other groups of like mind to go camping with and as you say there are good times and fellowship along with safety in numbers so I do recommend you join up with a group.

Activities for children who are 4and 5 while camping?

sexymexi

I'm sending my husband, son, brother, his son, and my father on a camping trip to the lake for father's day. I need some ideas on activities to keep the boys occupied while they are gone. Something they can do at the camp site. Also I need some food ideas not just hot dogs and hamburgers.

Answer
Keep foods simple and foods enjoyable so the kids will eat it. So that makes hot dogs and hamburgers ideal. Precook foods if you can specially for the first days meal or pick up a bucket of chicken and sides on the way there. Next days Breakfast also keep simple as well sweet rolls, fruits, instant oat-meals are simple to prep with near zero clean up. here are some more plans for eats besides road kill stew
http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/planning+menu.html

As for the kinder-age kids they are old enough to enjoy camping adventures like fishing, hiking and exploring but they also have short attention spans so keep the activity short, a hike would be an hour or so as with fishing too. Make stuff with things you find. For example spell out dads name with sticks you find and string them together in a mobile from a longer stick. Teach some skills like how to make a fire, what to do if lost like hug a tree, play tree freeze tag where trees are the safe zone but only for the count of 5 and so on. Here are more suggestions for kids

Any good camping spots for black ops in nazi zombies?

best camping place in kino der toten

best camping place in kino der toten image

Anthony

specifically good for 2 players, at kino der toten. I found a good one in the main room where you turn the electricity on, if you don't turn the electricity on and stay at the end of the room, one person can get the window while the other can get them from a far distance. I can only survive about 15 or so rounds like this, anybody have any other spots? thanks!

Answer
Well me and my friends survived 26 rounds, the place where we camp is when you go outside in the ally, you open all the doors to the ally but not the door on top of the stairs ( you only open this one if you need to run in an emergency since there is a trap in the room) and the other door leading to the room you first start off in should remain closed as well until you need to open it.One person takes the window in the back while the other one shoots in the front in front of the stairs, the one watching the window should provide assistance in the event the front person needs it. Claymores should also be bought as a backup just in case. The place is also perfect because their is a spot in which the box spawns and silver backs (exploding zombies) don't go that way unless someone is coming back at the beginning of a round then they will follow you. We could have survived longer but our crawlers kept having seizures forcing us to start a round with really horrible guns.....

Oh and turn the electricity on to buy perks and use the teleporter because you need to use the pack-a-punch for sure in the 18+ as well as the perk, they are essential.

Which one should I get Call Of Dead the zombie map or Ascension the zombie map for xbox 360?

whosMinoh

I really want to know so I can have fun and not just play five kino der toten and doa.
(And maybe the WAW maps if you can bye them separately if you can please tell me)

Answer
i bought the the new map pack today and i only bought it for zombies. call of the dead is easily one or the best map. there are sooo many new things to do. the map is huge. loads of places to go. it is really challenging with george remero walking about following you so no camping. i would 100% go with the new map pack.

handheld radio for listening to pilot-atc conversations ?

i m aviation enthusiast.. i live in new delhi, india... my place is 10 km from the nearest airport... i want to purchase a handheld radio which can let me listen to the conversations of a pilot in a plane and the atc controller... what is the frequency range it tunes to ? i m not sure but i think it tunes from 108-136 MHz. what is that radio actually called ? i want the cheapest radio.. how much will it cost me ?? which brands to look for ??

thanks in advance !!

Answer
You probably want a radio scanner for that, and a good one is here at Radioshack;
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3704415&y=4&x=17&camp=PPC:Google:Scanners:Exact&retainProdsInSession=1
That should cover you frequencies just fine, and as far as which ones to listen to, it depends from airport to airport, so I would look into what they are using. around $100 US is a pretty fair range as far as radios go, but as to what brands to get, I'd recommend just looking at the ratings for each radio.

Can you please give me all the food in the book: "My Side of the Mountain"?

Q. it's for a book report at school and the book is to long to trail through, and i really need ALL the foods in the book! Please! I beg of you!

Answer
My Side of the Mountain is a 1959 book by Jean Craig head George about a boy who learns about nature and himself. The book won the Newbery Honour Award and was loosely adapted into a movie in 1969. Set in the Catskill Mountains near Delhi, New York, My Side of the Mountain tells the fictional account of how Sam Gridley survives in the wilderness of upstate New York. George's descriptions of the flora and fauna and how Sam uses them to not only to survive but to live quite comfortably are very detailed.

Sam runs away from his home in New York City in the month of May. He leaves with only a penknife, a ball of cord, an axe, $40 which he had saved from selling magazine subscriptions, and a flint and steel set which he had purchased at a Chinese store in the city. On his first night, Sam gets on a train north of New York in search of his family's abandoned and overgrown farm in the Catskill Mountains. He hitchhikes to the Catskills, and spends a lonely first night in his small hemlock lean-to (a small tent-like structure, that consists of a hemlock bow and a stump). He catches five trout, but fails to start a fire to cook them. In the morning he climbed a hill and found a small cottage near his camp, the residence of an old man named Bill. Bill showed Sam how to cook his fish and make a fire. Sam established a house inside an old hollow hemlock tree. As the summer passes his skills and knowledge of the mountains and of survival grew. He learned to live off the land by hunting small game and deer and gathering a wide variety of edible plants and nuts. He made clothes, bedding, and other useful things from deer hide and rabbit fur. Sam had many animal companions in his wilderness house. Early on he retrieves a baby peregrine falcon and names her Frightful. He teaches Frightful to hunt for both of them and they become best friends. Although he spends most of his time alone, he met several humans during his stay. Other than Bill, he meets Miss Turner, a librarian in a nearby town, and "Bando", an English professor. Sam gave him that nickname because he thought at first he was an escaped convict. Sam lived a free life in the wilderness for more than a year. During the winter, his father found him. Sam, his father, and Bando enjoyed a wilderness Christmas dinner. After winter Sam found himself carving out a nearby tree as a "guest house", despite asking himself if it wasn't the exact opposite of why he moved there in the first place. He then hears his father, and then his mother, and as it turned out his father has come back with all the rest of his family. The family immediately starts building a house.

My birthday is coming up and we just went camping in Orlando, FL for a cousins birthday and we had a blast. But I want to go camping on a beach so im thinking maybe Key West. Does anyone know of a campground on the beach in Key West. If you know of any other place in Florida that has a campground on the beach let me know either way. Thanks!
Im planning to go with no more than 10 people and we are really picky about privacy. We usually like to feel like the area is all to ourselves. So if there is a campground or a really nice beach that someone can recommend please let me know. I dont mind staying at a hotel and going to a really nice beach. Oh by the way, Miami Beach would be my last option because I practically grew up there.

Answer
I hate to break it to you but Key West doesn't really have much for beaches. It's a beautiful area for sure, but the beaches are terrible. They are often algae choked, and smell rancid. The waters are great a couple miles off shore though, and there are lots of diving expeditions for very little cash.

How to find a good summer sleep-away camp?

Answer
I think you've asked this question in the wrong place. BUT, trying googling "summer camps" I'm sure you'll find something, somewhere.

i want to git some camping gear and start traveling the world but how do i eat baeth and is thar any thing els i need to know any tips i dont have any family to take care of i will only have whats on my back and i want to see the world

Answer
Campgrounds and hostels are available in almost every country around the world. Most campgrounds and all hostels have bathroom and shower facilities. You can take a sponge bath or use a shower bag when going extended periods without access to a shower. Prices can range from free to $50 a night, depending on location, facilities and amenities. If you avoid the more luxurious campgrounds, and stay where its free as much as possible, you will probably average around $10 per night.

Almost every village and town has a cafe, a baker, a grocer, a market or a farm. You will need money, local coin and currency, to buy food. You can go to a restaurant or cafe, or you can cook it yourself using a backpacking stove (using unleaded gasoline for fuel would be best) and cookset. If you go to real remote places you might have to buy or trade for food with families. I am told that when traveling in these remote areas, trade is often better than money; but I don't know for sure because I've never gone that far off from civilization.

You will also need money to travel by bus and by train, unless you plan to walk. Or you can buy a cheap car once you get in country and drive around, then sell it when you leave. This leads to another possibility: buying a cheap, small, used recreational vehicle (often called a Caravan or Camper Van outside the US), which provides not only transportation but your own rolling bedroom and kitchen, maybe even a potty and a shower. Many used camper vans are listed on eBay's UK site for under £2,000 (about $3,200 US). Of course you'll also need insurance and have to pay for fuel. But when you consider the cost of buying all the lightweight gear you'd need for backpacking, then paying for bus or train fare, and the discomfort and other factors, buying a used camper van might be the ideal way to see the world.

Why are most motorcycle trailers built on two wheels? What happens to a load based on a one wheeled design?

bnmyself

Im thinking of building one to pull behind a 150cc scooter to carry camping gear. I think it would track better as a one wheel design, similar to the old vespa and cushman designs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Check out N Line's site.
http://www.n-line.com/
I've seen single wheel trailers pulled behind Gold Wings. The hitch is designed like a U joint.
With all the weight being forward of the wheel the trailer would be extremely stable/
I've never seen one unhitched and parked, like a two wheel, though.

Answer
Hi,
It might not be practical to find a cheap used camper trailer in only a few days, but you can meet your goal of going camping this weekend! I'd like to suggest that you consider purchasing a tent and some air mattresses for this weekend, this is a goal that you can meet fairly easily. If you don't already have sleeping bags, add those to your list. Even when you move up to your actual goal to purchase a cheap used camper trailer, the sleeping bags will come in handy. I've listed a few camper articles for you to look at, the first is regarding buying a camper at the eBay auction site, the second on the camper re-po market. It would be best for you and your family if you wrote out the features that you will need. For example, what is the tow capacity of the vehicle you will use to pull your camper trailer? You'll need to consider that the camper itself will only be a percentage (maybe 60%?) of the overall weight you'll tow, as most people load the trailer prior to pulling it. You'll also need to decide if you want your toilet an sink in the camper or you'll be roughing it, and how many beds you'll need. So I'd like to suggest that you go ahead and go camping this weekend, but take the time you''' need to properly select a unit.

Good luck, and have fun!

Does anyone know of good camping sites in ohio?

juliegisco

i live in southeast ohio, and im planning a camping trip, and was wanting some good input on campgrounds.

Answer
All the state parks are pretty nice but expensive. You don't say what style of camping you are doing. Tent, camper, backpacking? Hocking hills is very nice. Any of the reservoirs (Burr Oak, Seneca lake) have camping. Over in your part of the state you are not too far from Ohio Power rec area. Good fishing and cheap camping there, if you are into that sort of thing. You can get a free permit on line. These people may be a corp. but they have the cheapest camping in Ohio. Look around their pages. Here is a link to apply for a permit. http://www.aep.com/environmental/recreation/recland/permit.aspx But West Virginia is very nice, if you want to go that far. Spruce Knob area.

How long are travellers legally allowed to stay in one place within the UK?

Some travellers have moved in just down the road from me and are causing disruption to the area. Already they have caused problems and I really dislike my area how it was in the first place. The main thing that gets to me is the fact the field they are camping out on is directly behind a primary school. When I say travellers I'm referring to Irish 'Pikeys'. So my question is how long are they legally allowed to stay on the field before the law states they have to move.

Answer
a few years ago I would have been as tolerant as KateP ... until I lived next door to an Irish travelling family ... the abuse, noise, and disruption we had was unbelievable, we felt like we were prisoners in our own home ... we had knives poked through the fence at us, stones thrown at my children, if we went into the garden the young men "mooned" us ... thankfully they moved about 18 months later because they'd been banned from all the local pubs because of their behaviour and they had nowhere to park their lorries ... the person with whom they did a swap inherited an 18 month old house (it had been new when they moved in) that was a wreck with broken water pipes, broken central heating system, dog pee on the floorboards that the new tenant had to scrub six times before she managed to get the smell down ... it took her two years to get it all fixed

anyway, to answer the question, I don't know of any law stating a specific length of time they can stay ... they can stay until whoever owns the land manages to get an order to remove them

MorganW

My husband and I are in our twenties, married for 7 years with no kids and are wanting to move to an exciting town or city. We currently live in a cement world in Texas with limited outdoor activities. We have family cabin in Pagosa Springs CO, and contemplated moving there, but we are wishy-washy with all of the tourism there. Our family is all in Texas, but have the means to travel to us if we move out of state. I am a school teacher and my husband owns a small business, so we aren't tied down here in any way.

The states we have considered are Colorado, Utah, Oregon, and Washington. That is all that we have looked into so far. We love to ski, fish, hunt, hike and camp. Where we live here in Texas, traveling to do this is getting quite expensive. We are really just looking for a better quality of life doing the things we love together. We aren't really familiar with any of the places we are looking at, so any insight would be greatly appreciated. We are open to all areas in the US. While quality of life is important, we do not want to live in a place that is so expensive we can't appreciate all the wonders it would have to offer. That being said, Hawaii was cut from our possibilities. Being a teacher, I can apply for certification in any state, so job security is good for me. We might also consider the place we move to to be a place we can set roots down and raise a family, so low crime and good schools is something we need to consider. We aren't big for metro areas, since we currently live in one, and have considered Northern California, but worry it would be too expensive to have a real future there. Are there any areas in Washington where rain is common, but not an everyday thing like in Seattle? As far as weather, the rain would possibly dampen our plans to be outside, so sunny is good and we understand that wherever we move, it may snow during winter months and we are totally okay with that! We were both raised in towns in the Panhandle of Texas, so we really do enjoy the small town environment, but are open to moving to a bit larger city between 100-200,000 people. A young population would awesome too!

If you have any opinion or love your town so much and think it would be a great fit, please answer below! All input is greatly appreciated!

I'm looking to camp at Algonquin, but I've never been there and its such a huge park. Is there an area that is close (within walking distance) to nice water but has a good amount of privacy?

Answer
Pog Lake has some of the most private campgrounds, Mew Lake next. All the campgrounds are on nice water. Check the maps though, you can choose to stay on a traveled road or paddle/portage to a wilderness site.

Check out their site. Also if you email you'll get a prompt response. Happy camping!

How old must you be to camp overnight, solo, in a Canadian Provincial Park?

Maverick

I'm 16 now, and I'm not quite sure what age you must be to camp solo in Algonquin, Killarney, Quetico etc. I've seen 16 and 18 in different places so if someone could clear up the age limit for camping solo in interior sites in Canadian Provincial Parks, that would be great. Thanks!

Answer
I think it depends on the park's regulations itself. I'm not sure who has authority over that...it might be the Provincial park system itself or the individual park.

Either way, I highly doubt they will ever ID you for being under aged camping there. This is true especially with friends. If you are under 18 and going solo, maybe just give the particular park a shout and ask if it would be ok.

Or, do most people stick to camping, some other type of weekend excursion or just staying home for their vacation? Thanks!

Answer
to me just getting away from the normal routine is a vacation even if it is 1 state away, you mentioned some pretty extravagant vacations,i dont know many people who take those kind unless they have alot of money

What place would you recommend for a first vacation?

Autum

i live in the U.S. so outside preferably, and this is for future reference as i havent been at my current job long enough to take long PTO vacations.
i love history, and geology so i think places with a lot of influence on that would be way cool. anything you have suggestions for would be great. just to give you an idea, these are places ive considered in the past:
germany
england
italy
egypt
iceland (i think? maybe its greenland)
any suggestions would be appreciated! :)
id like to add that ive been to over 30 US states so ive been to most of the ones people would suggest. ive been to california, texas, las vegas, live in colorado, and many others that have wonderful things to see. ive been wanting to travel outside the US for a long time, ever since i can remember. so this is more what this post is about. thanks for any answers! :)

Answer
If you haven't been to Hawaii, I would recommend that. Specifically, I would say go to Kona on the big island. There is some history there, but also geology and nature - volcanoes, hikes, and snorkeling, for example. It is a great place to visit for 10 days or so.

Iceland is only reasonable for a couple of months in the summer. It has camping and hiking to see the really neat geology, but not much else.

In terms of history, Italy and Greece are jaw dropping. Especially Italy. You could visit a hundred times and still be going to unique places with fantastic art and architecture. Milan, Florence, Rome, Ravenna, Venice. You can't miss.

France, Germany, England, Holland, and Denmark are also good, if you plan your trips well.

Egypt is out of the question these days.

I'm planning a worldwide exploration trip, and I want to know of the places that left impressions on you.
So far, I plan on going to:
Any concentration camp in Germany
The Sydney Opera House
Buckingham Palace
The Eiffel Tower
Giza Pyramids
Taj Mahal
Great Wall of China
Colosseum
Acropolis of Athens
Leaning Tower of Pisa

I would like to visit places that have history and meaning, not just places to go where it's 'pretty'. I hope the list gives you a gist of what I like. Any answer is helpful.

Answer
A few thoughts for you:

London: Forget Buck House. It's not very old, and hasn't been a royal residence very long. Much more history in the Tower of London (ca. 1,000 years of it) and Westminster Abbey (similar). You might also like to visit some of the smaller Wren churches of the City of London. The City itself (the financial district) is small and walkable.

Turkey: The country is full of amazing historic sites. From the earliest periods, the Bogazkoy (sorry about the lack of diacritical marks), the capital of the Hittites. Then there are places like Gordion (as in Alexander the Great's Gordian knot, 4th century BC). A little later there are the fabulous Greek sites like Aphrodisias. A little later still there is the excellent Roman temple at the top of the old part of Ankara. A little later again, but still Roman, is the church of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, a church which as stood for 1500 years, and which, until the coming of the Victorian railway stations, had the largest clear floor area (no columns, in other words) of any building anywhere in the world - for well over a thousand years. A little later we have the Ottoman constructions, of course. Also interesting, but only 500-odd years old. I personally would go to Turkey in preference to Greece for ancient Greek remains, since they are by and large better preserved and less crowded, but if the Acropolis means something special to you, by all means.

Cambodia: Angkor - fabulous Hindu temples, in the largest religious complex of any kind anywhere in the world. Still being painstakingly dug out of the jungle (with due care being taken with unexploded mines etc.) Stunning.

Tibet: China is clearly doing its best to eradicate Tibetan culture, and will no doubt succeed soon enough by sheer weight of numbers. If you want to see the real Tibet, this is at beast your last chance.

Bali: A Hindu part of an Islamic nation. Dotted with fascinating temples, and covered in ancient rice terraces. Get away from the tourist resorts of the far S of the island and explore the rest, especially the interior.

Germany: While you are there (and by the way, the best-known camp is actually in Poland these days) go to Trier, for the Black Gate, part of an amazing Roman wall. You might also be interested in the castles which line the crags over the Rhein between (roughly) Koblenz and Mainz. And Frankfurt on Main has the place where Holy Roman Emperors were elected for hundreds of years, until the Empire was dissolved at Napoleon's insistence in 1806. THe actual building is a reconstruction, the original having been bombed in WWII.

Russia: I was going to ask if maybe St. Peterburg and the Moscow Kremlin were maybe not ild enough for you, but then I remembered the Tour d'Eiffel, so go ahead - add them to your list, with Kiev, and some of the old churches of early Russia.

Have fun

Need advice on where to visit in Australia?

sdnative

My wife and I are planning a 3 week trip to Australia in March or April. We are flying into Sydney but have no further plans yet. Would like some advice on what are "must see" sites and cities.

Answer
Depends on what you are after....Do you like camping? Do you want to see Australia in its most natural form or do you want to see the main cities??
If you want to see Water holes that have waterfalls and just come from nowhere in the desert, than the Pilbara & Kimberley regions in WA are fantastic...You do some awesome 4WDriving for hours than end up at these beautiful oasis's....The Northern Territory is similar & don't forget Uluru (Ayers Rock) In Alice Springs, south of Darwin. North Queensland has beautiful tropical Rainforests as well as similar country to Nth WA & Nth Territory....All your main cities...Sydney - East Coast (Sydney Harbour Bridge & Opera House).... Melbourne - South East - Good for cafes, dining out, shopping & nightlife....
Tasmania - Very south east - Beautiful scenery & cold..... SA - hmmm... I like SA, but its a bit similar to Perth where I'm from - love the place but nothing too spectacular...I'm from the North-West originally so I would recommend Karajini National Park.

I haven't been camping in a long time.. and the last time I went it was spring or winter. But its summer now and my boyfriend wants me to go with him. I know to take water and drink lots of it but does anybody have any ideas on how to keep cool? And ill be in the desert. Do you think it'll be okay to wear shorts?

Answer
Shorts can be OK if your skin is happy with them but long loose pants will keep the Sun off better. They don't get too hot if you get them with wide loose flappy legs.
Wear loose tops with plenty of ventilation.
Arabians don't wear shorts or skin-fit pants in the desert.
They wear loose fitting stuff. They've been there a long time.
If the material is light still use the sunblock under it. Sun can burn you right through thin cotton pants and tops , even loose ones but loose is a lot better than tight. See the link below.
Otherwise wear a sarong like the Indians and Malaysians do. They suit long loose tops a treat.
OK for the boys too. Men in Malaysia wear them with bright shirts or with western style jackets. I lived there a few years.
They are very comfortable to wear.
It's just a tube of light material you can wrap around you in one or two layers, roll it over at the top for a built-in band and tuck one end in under itself like a bath towel gets fitted..
Get it right you can run it it all day. Not in the desert without training though.
A friend just came back from South Africa where he ran a full 26 mile marathon in 40C heat.
He's 68. No problems. Used to it
Keep exercise slow enough to avoid overheating. Pace yourself for the conditions.
In the hottest part of the day, rest up in shade. Take some shade if you don't have natural shade. A washing line and a piece of cloth. Rig it up so you can rest under it in shade and keep whatever breeze there is flowing around you. Tents get too hot.
Morning and evening are activity time. Midday and early to mid afternoon are siesta time
Change it as you can to suit best what you plan to do on the trip but always err on the side of safety.

Get a wide brimmed hat, some good sunglasses and Piz Buin or similar Factor 50 sunblock.
That Piz Buin is used by mountaineers and skiers where UV is a big problem on bright sunny days high up.
Good in desert too. I used it in the Atacama and I always have some when I go the mountains.
Get it from sports and outdoor shops or online.
Great place, the Atacama. Driest desert in the world, but you can still live.

You need plenty to drink. Freezer blocks can last a while in an insulated bag or make a bag or box from polystyrene foam and newspaper. Large Thermos flasks are OK for a while as well. Gives you a start anyway.
Fill it with water leaving plenty of room for ice expansion, screw it up tight and put the whole lot in the freezer the day before you go.
Wrap it in newspaper, then a plastic bag, and pack stuff round it.That's cool water for tomorrow if the flask is big enough to last. The bigger they are the longer they take to warm up.
You can get coolers that work by evaporation but they use up water. OK if there's a creek handy.
Otherwise just keep the water containers in shade as much as you can.
Eat well, no junk. You need to stay healthy.
Have a great time.
Fun in the Sun..walkies.

How do Libyan Refugees travel to Australia (boat, plane etc) and what are the conditons?

n

Also, what are traveling conditions like for Libyan refugees who travel to Australia in the boats, planes etc? as well as legal and illegal methods of leaving their country?

Thank you very much for your help!
Oh, and this is not for me - I'm doing a research assignment on this Topic. Thanks

Answer
Do not trust any advice you get, unless it comes from an Australian Immigration official. Many people will tell you wrong information. The law is complex, and easy to get wrong; and some people will try to take your money for bad advice.

No-one can enter Australia without a visa. If you arrive in Australia without a visa, whether by boat or plane, you will be classed as an illegal immigrant and placed in detention. Many people have to wait for 6 to 12 months or even longer in detention, before their applications for refugee status are approved. So do not try to enter Australia unless you have a valid Australian visa - even if you claim to be a refugee, you could end up in immigration detention (basically, jail) for a long time.

If you want to live in Australia as a refugee, the best way is to be classified as a refugee by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, in a refugee camp at the first country you come to. If the UN says you are a refugee, Australia may agree to resettle you as part of Australia's refugee resettlement programme. The alternative is to enter Australia as a tourist, or visiting relative of an Australian resident, then apply for refugee status once you are in Australia. You will still have to wait for some months, but at least you won't be in detention.

Taking a boat from Indonesia to Australia is extremely dangerous. Many people have drowned trying to do this. If you do arrive in Australia, you will be stuck in detention for many months, probably on an small island off the coast of Australia. And the Australian government has just made an arrangement with Malaysia, so that anyone arriving illegally in Australia by boat will be sent to Malaysia, to wait for refugee status processing. So you could end up in Malaysia for many months or years before you get residence in Australia.

It isn't all bad news. Australia is a multicultural society, with many people from many different backgrounds. There is a sizable Arabic-speaking community in both Sydney and Melbourne. Once you get refugee status, there are many support programmes to help you get established in your new life: language training, education and job skills, housing etc. There are Arabic language newspapers and television programmes. Many government departments have Arabic-speaking translators.

Once again: do not try to enter Australia unless you have clear advice from someone who works for the Australian government. The Australian Department of Immigration has information on their website, here:

http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/humanitarian/

http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/75processing-unlawful-boat-arrivals.htm

Hope this helps!!

How to choose a family base camping tent?

top 5 family camping tents
on Person Tents: Reviews of Best 5 Person Family Dome Tents
top 5 family camping tents image

Ivy

I am planning to buy a family camping tent, what things should I consider?

Answer
1. Consider how many people will be sleeping in the tent and if you'll be requiring one or two tents to house everyone. Make sure you have enough room for everyone to be comfortable. Every tent has its dimensions specified on the package, listing how many people it will house and how big it is. If you're looking for roomy comfort, subtract the number of people the tent says it will hold by one or two.

2. Figure out what style of tent will best suit your needs. There are two basic types of tents: dome and cabin. While there are a variety of styles of both, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. A dome tent is easier to assemble, having only two poles for the tent and one for the top cover. Since it's shaped like a dome, you'll give up some space in its height. A cabin tent offers more room since it is built in a square shape, but because it has more poles, it can take longer to assemble and be heavier to carry. If you're looking to house more than four people comfortably and have only one tent, a cabin tent is probably the best option.

3. Consider what extra requirements you need in your tent to properly accommodate you and your group. Do you want an extra attached screen room or a tent with several rooms? Do you have a tall person in the pack that will want to stand up straight while inside the tent? Will you be spending large amounts of time inside the tent? All of these things need to be thought out before you buy a tent. There are many varieties of tents on the market that come at a variety of prices.

4. Think about the area where you will be setting up your base camp tent and what the weather will be like. If you'll be camping in a cold region, you don't want a tent that has a screened top with a liner that allows more air inside. You also don't want a tent that allows little ventilation if you're staying in a hot area.

5. Consider the camping experience of the people you're camping with. If you're a novice camper, you might want a tent that's easy to set up. Generally, the fewer poles you have to deal with, the easier it is to set up and take down and the lighter weight.

http://www.quictents.co.uk has quality family tents, you can have a look.

How to assemble a big family camping tent?

Stella

I have ordered a 8 man family tent at an online store and I wonder how to assemble such a big tent? Will it cost too much time to setup?

Answer
1. Choose a level site that is free of rocks, sticks and other debris. Spread the tent out with the floor side down. Unzip all doors.

2. Extend the tent poles by pulling out each section and inserting it into the metal ferrules. Start in the middle of the pole to reduce tension on the internal string. Set the extended poles aside.

3. Locate the center hub on the center roof of the tent. If it is not already attached to your tent model, attach it with an "s" hook.

4. Take one tent pole and slide it through one of the sleeves on the tent wall. Insert the top of the pole into one of the openings in the center hub. Repeat with the remaining tent poles.

5. Enter the tent and lift the roof by raising the center hub. The roof and tent poles will be off of the ground. One adult stays in the tent while the other works outside. Flex one of the tent poles and place the free end into the metal pin at the base of the tent. The tent pole should follow the seam line of the tent. Repeat with the remaining tent poles.

6. Attach the tent to the tent pole frame. Clip the plastic clips that are sewn to the tent walls to the tent poles. If your tent has Velcro straps instead of clips, attach the Velcro straps to the tent pole frame.

7. Stake down the tent by inserting the tent stakes through the stake loops at each corner of the tent. Pull the tent floor even and tight. Hammer the stakes into the ground at a 45 degree angle.

8. Attach the rain fly. Place the rain fly over the tent. Attach the hooks on the corners of the rain fly to the metal rings on the tent corners. If your rain fly has an additional fly pole, slide it through the sleeve at the edge of the rain fly awning. Insert each pole end into the grommets on each side of the door.

How Can I get good at the game Call of Duty?

Ashley

I'm so confused about Call of Duty Black Ops.

I'd even appreciate a place where I could get tips on Modern Warfare 1, the original beast, because I might switch to that also.

It doesn't help being a a girl also.

My KDR always sucks, and I think my custom classes are always stupid or something.

Answer
for black ops use the famas,mp5k or ak74u. and camp. Camping means you sit in a corner and wait for people to walk by and kill them from behind. Get 5000 cod points and buy the claymore. Use spy plane, black bird and chopper gunner. Or if you cant get those use spy plane napalm and attack helo
