Does anyone know where I could buy a tent ( online or in store ) that would be fire retardant FREE . ..?
I really need a new tent but I want to get one with no fire retardants.

I believe most tents have fire retardant. Your best bet would be one of the canvas tent suppliers. They make tepees and period tents from canvas and some are made to order. I'll bet they make a tent and then add the fire retardant. They would probably be the mfg. that has what you require.

I haven't used my camping tent for quite a long time and it now smells like mildew. How to get rid of this bad awful smell?

First, you need get a tote and fill it with clean water then add pine-sol in it. After that, you can place the tent, rain fly, tent poles, tent bag, stakes and stake bag in to the water, and leave them soak in the pine-sol solution for an hour or so. One hour is enough for the camping tent to absorb the aroma of the pine-sol solution, and then you will get a fresh smelling tent.

After the tent has soaked in the pine-sol solution for one hour, now you should take it out of the access water and reassemble the tent in your yard. Use water hose to pray the tent off and you should pay particular attention to the fabric on the bottom. Be sure it is thoroughly rinsed.

The last step is to dry the camping tent. You should let the tent air dry both inside and outside. Itâs important to wait until the tent and all the contents are fully dry before you pack it back up. Otherwise, the mildew will return. If you have a large family tent or multi-room tent, then you should wait patiently. If the weather is not good and you cannot dry the tent outside, you should place the tent in your garage or even inside your home or basement to let it dry. One thing you need to keep in mind is never dry your camping tent in a dryer because this could reduce the lifetime of the tent.

The easier way to fix the tent poles is to use tent pole repair sleeves. You should count your broken tent poles then go to a sporting goods store and buy as many sleeves as you have broken tent poles. Slip the tent pole repair sleeve over the broken tent pole, and wrap duct tape around the top and bottom of the sleeve to further secure it in place.

If you are not able to find a tent repair sleeve in the nearby store, you can go to a hardware store and buy some aluminum roof flashing and nylon clamps. These things can also help you to fix the tent poles. You need to cut the aluminum flashing to size with tin snips and wrap it around the broken sections of the tent pole. After that, put clamps at the top and bottom of the sleeve you have created to secure it in place. At last, you need to wrap the aluminum flashing with duct tape to cover any sharp edges.

What is the biggest camping tent available?

I am leading a youth group camping trip this summer and I'm looking for a very large tent to accommodate optimally 15-16 people? I have looked at several 12 person tents (Gettysburg 12 Family Camping Tunnel Tent, Trekker⢠20' x 16' Cabin Tent and the Copper Canyon 12), but was hoping for something maybe a bit bigger.

Positive reviews about waterproofing is also a must. Our tents last year leaked horribly in the rain, even with the rain fly on and tarp underneath.

As far as managing a group several smaller tents would be more suitable, you can arrange the tents around a central canopy for example like the circling of the wagon trains of old. this works best with vertical wall tents of the cabin styles like the Copper Canyon 12 or the Coleman Instant 8. Figure also gear for each camper unless they are on a cot each person will have gear that takes up sleeping space so figure 1 extra space for 3 persons is needed so a four man tent actually comfortably sleeps three, an eight man sleeps 6 and so on.
