Good camping places in PA. not to far from NJ?

I use to go camping at Fernridge Campground but they are not there anymore. Loved that place. does anyone know of a place that allows alcohol and is awesome.. i want to know from personal experiences. please do not suggest any if you haven't been to them.

I live in suburban philadelphia, and we used to go up to Keen Lake. It's in the poconos, very beautiful, has a pool and a lake for kayaking or fishing. Arcade and ice cream store for the kids, as well as numerous playgrounds. Lots of open areas, you can even get little cottages that have electricity and running water if you want to enjoy the area without the camping.

That's very difficult to find in NJ, particularly in central NJ.

In western/northern NJ you have 72 miles the Appalachian Trail. Camping is only permitted in the provided shelters (or nearby/within view, if the shelter is full), and only for one night per location.

There are some nice and relatively separated family campsites in Stokes State Forest, also in northern NJ.

In southern NJ, the Pine Barrens offers some nice campsites off the beaten trail. Many of these are sparsely populated in the Fall. There are even two sites, Mullica and Lower Forge, that are hike-in or canoe-in only.

If you want more remote/secluded camping you'll need to travel to upstate NY or western PA.

Camping in NJ HELP????

I want to camp in NJ. TENT! No RV or something.

Drive there... plan to camp out in tents with friends and bike or hopefully bike or drive to the shore/beach during the day.

Would prefer somewhere VERY CLOSE to Rumson... if n/a then whatever the best options are!

I know nothing about NJ & traveling from the midwest to get the nature/wildernessey aspect but the beach aspect too and would like to do an event over a long weekend.. i'm not sure what.

Any ideas?

I don't know of any campground in or near Rumson and I'm glad you didn't say you wanted to camp on the beach because in Jersey camping on any beach is out.
There are some campgrounds in south Jersey NEAR the beach from these you can take the car with the bike inside and bike to Mays landing, and just pedal around town which has a main street closed to cars. It's a nice quaint place with a great beach.
Try... Seaside Campground, Big Timber lake CG, Oceanview CG..they all have web sites for you to look at.
Make your reservations ASAP.a lot of places are already booked
If you check out Cape May or these campgrounds it will give a list of things going on

Where are some good places to go camping?

Im planning a camping trip for me and my boyfriend this summer. We want to be away from everyone but i dont want it to just be some place in the woods. i want it to be somewhere beautiful with breath taking scenery. somewhere in new jersey would be nice but somehow i dont think im going to find what im looking for here lol but anywhere that could be a days drive away would be perfect. any ideas?

I believe the three most scenic camping spots in NJ are the northwest corner along the Kittatinny Mountain Range (Stokes State Forest, High Point State Park), a bit farther south and on the Delaware River (Bulls Island State Park, though it might still be closed due to flood damage from last year), and the NJ Pinelands (Wharton State Forest, Bass River State Forest, Brendan T. Byrne State Forest).

A day's drive from central NJ can put you as far south as Florida, almost halfway across the US, or deep into several provinces in eastern Canada. The number of beautiful places within that area are too numerous to list. It's hard to choose a favorite, but Acadia National Park on the eastern coast of Maine would be high on the list, and it never gets as crowded as the popular parks out west.

Hi, my friends and I are looking to go camping. But we would like to sort of backpack into the woods and find a remote area by a water source and make a fire and camp out for the weekend. We don't really wanna go to one of those campsites that have benches and running water etc. Are there any cool places in NJ, PA, NY, or anywhere around there that allow that?

Harriman State Park is great. its right off the palisades Pkwy and Seven Lakes Drive. All the camping is remote. Then of course there is the famed Catskills and Adirondacks in NY. Dont overlook the Appalachian trail its all remote camping.

Then you have the Allegheny Mtns and Delaware Water Gap in Pa. NJ has the Pine Barrens

Looking to do a tour type of ride that has either paved and/or hard packed trails to ride on. Something in a natural setting with camping (preferably cabin) facilities along the way. We will have mountain and hybrid bikes.

The Delaware Raritan Canal is the place to go. Fits your description exactly. If you camp at Bulls Island State Park, you'll have access to the canal in NJ and PA and be a relatively short bike ride from New Hope and Lambertville, cutesy little touristy towns on the Delaware River.
