Where is a good place to go camping in Minnesota over the 4th?

l p

We're in the Cities. Looking for something not crowded, to rent a cabin or even pitch a tent if nice enough, fishing and boat rental.

Answer
My favorite places for camping are:

Scenic State Park which is north of Grand Rapids....it is way up north but its well worth the drive. Beautiful place, beautiful lakes. You can hear loons crying out at night from the lake

Bearhead Lake State Park which is up north of Duluth ....great camping sites right on the lake. Beautiful place.

Lake Itasca State Park ....not so far from Bemidji.....has the source of the Mississippi River.....really beautiful place but it can get crowded very quickly.

And then there are a whole lot of great parks all up and down the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Hope this helps!

Anyone know of a great secluded place to camp in Minnesota?

Q. We're looking for a place to "get a way" from the buzz of the cities and would like a very secluded place to tent for a weekend. We don't mind roughing it (actually it's preferred) no running water, no electricity is fine with us. We just need a place to set up camp. Know of any secluded places to camp?

Answer
hmmmm...

Umm... let's see. Frontenac is a good one, it's down by red wing - about an hour south of the cities. There's some good hiking along the mississippi river bluffs.

I used to always go up to Cushing, which is on Highway 10 about 2 and a half hours north. If you can find somewhere near clear water/clear lake, there is great places to stop there for meat (at mcdonalds meats - and old fashioned butcher) and there's a great truck stop too. Actually, detroit lakes is up there, and I know there's great camping there!

I"m headed for a trip around MN. Was looking for any good camping and swimming holes that people are aware of around the area. The more private the campsite, and clearer the water the better! Any help?

Answer
You might check out Scenic State Park which is about one hour north of Grand Rapids. Its secluded, beautiful, and the lakes are clean. Also, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area which is a huge area right on the Canadian border.

Some other places include:

Voyageurs National Park
Lake Itasca State Park
Bearhead Lake State Park
William O'Brian State Park
Zippel Bay State Park

ok, so i have been riding western for about two or so years now and i know that i want to go to college in equine business management. where i can open my own barn and teach lessons, offer breeding stallions and train/break horses. i think i would really benefit from some sort of internship. is there any place in minnesota i can intern at or any other place i can apply for that will pay for my transportation, etc? please help!

Answer
Well I live in Northern Minnesota, and they're are ranchs around the area that need volunteers or counselers.

Northwoods Arabians is located in Park Rapids Minnesota and look for volunteers to help excersise, groom, and help with breeding horses.

Circle R Ranch is located in Long Prarie Minnesota, and they have over 200 horses. They're program runs in the summer and need camp counselers to stay in rooms and supervise campers, break horses, go on all trail rides, help with barrel training and MUCH MUCH more.

Moondance Ranch & Adventure Park, located in Walker in Minnesota, they have trail rides that they run for all ages. Supervisors are needed to go on trail rides and take care of horses.

I know these are all located in northern mn but off the top of my head this is what i can come up with. They're not internships but actual jobs that you'll be paid for, or as a volunteer. Otherwise look online there are so many people you could contact

Is there any good campgrounds in Minnesota?

Teddibear

I am particularly looking for a place that is like a forest or woods; has a boating place, and is pet friendly, and of course a playground or swimming place. I would also like to see pictures of this place. Thank you.

Answer
One of my Aunts used to work for the conoe and bike rental for St. Croix State park. This is a beautiful place. We used to go there every summer when I was a child. They have camping, biking, canoeing, and much more. I've attached there web page. They have pictures of the forests on this page to. Good luck.
